GTZ project updates
Sweeeet That is going to be so much nicer. Good work on the lighting, it looks nice and bright. At my college auto shop one of the bays had lights on the walls. Made it real nice working under the car. I always thought that would make a good addition when I buy another garage (with or without a house attached, heheh). Enjoy your new space.

GTZ project updates
Wow, some goodies just came in!
This was the secred mod #1.. Man i can't wait to get this thing in!
It's the same belt drive conversion kit that TRS sold, but this one is from Ron at the Quad4Forums, great thanks to him for hooking me up with this!
For people who dont know about the benefits of this:
- Less rotating weight what means it will rev a lot faster
- Saves over 35lbs weight
- Easily adjustable, for 2 degrees and 0 degrees
- Easy to assemble/disassemble (and more room in the engine bay)
- No more that chain noice, maybe i can actually hear the intake now!
- Killer looks for sure!
The old chain was so noicy and the cover and water pump was allready leaky so instead of swapping new ones,
i decided to go this way, solid engine performance that is
I'm swapping to electrical water pump and fabbing a AC delete delete bracket to my alt allso, trying to keep the rotating mass as little as possible to have nice fast revving Quad...
Drivetrain has been unplugged from everything, so it's ready to be dropped.
I'm using pallet jack under the subframe, so i can just unbolt it from the body and lower the engine down, and jack keeps the car body up.
after the subframe and all is down, i can lift the body higher so i can roll the drivetrain out under it and start working.
I could really use those bilsteins i ordered 13 months ago and newer got.... these one have seen better days.
I took the inner fender off cause im taking the outer ones too before it's going to get those rust spots i found earlyer fixed.
Oh, i bought a huge jack and some air tools to speed things up, i'm going to do a LOT things to my car soon, there are lots of orders on the way here and once everything is here i'l be working daily with this thing.
(2008/6 edit: Wow things really changed after cause all of those rusty parts you can see on the pics are now gone )

I love the belt conversion. Those were mythical mods back in the 90's as pretty much no one could afford it for a daily driven car and the only place to get it was Mantapart, which left you wondering if you would get anything for your $1500 or whatever that cost through them.
Very nice!

There actually is an A/C delete bracket made for the quad, it mounts in the place of the compressor and just has an idler pulley so all the other stuff stays the same (belt size, etc..)

I know theres one, i had one on my car (allmost an year) but cause i need more room for my new intake setup, i had to relocate the alt lower.
This mount style takes 1/8 of the space the stock & ac del pulley did, and weights 1/4 of that, and cause i dont have the extra pulley and tensioner anymore, i have less rotating mass, to again, rev faster ÂÂÂ
Oh, and if you didnt notice, i call this AC Delete Delete bracket

Ahh, that makes sense then. I didn't know there was an ulterior motive in what you were doing.

GTZ project updates
i have just been collecting some parts i need while waiting the other ones to arrive.
- Gasket kit for Quad
- ARP flywheel bolts
- Moog tierod inner end bushings (should be stiffer)
- Short belt for alt because of the new placement
- New front wheel hubs\bearings, i may have to get these modified for longer bolts for safety reasons.
Still waiting for several items from the customs.. those should arrive next week...
Do-it-your self ALT mounting: very light, huge space saver, minimum drag, 100% functional.
What it looks like now.. new front mount under devenlopement, cams going in next week with rest of the belt conversion parts.

Goodies keep coming
- Spec Stage 3 clutch with lightweight option
- Fizanda aluminium flywheel
- W41 cams & lifters finally
- ARP bolts for front hubs (longer than stock)
- 3.94 final gear assembly
Now it's time to put something back together finally.
Except the tranny, i'm waiting for the LSD-insert to arrive, then taking the tranny to be rebuild somewhere if i can find a place with reasonable price.

GTZ project updates
I noticed that my project is progressing too fast,
so i decided it's time to take everything apart
My garage is getting quite hectic with 3/4 of the car in pieces there.
Engine is laying there, and i'm inspecting the shortblock.
Going to swap in new bearings now and clean things up.
Tranny is allso off.. i decided that i'm Not going to put the LSD insert and
3.94 gearing to that old tranny...
Instead i bought a brand new newer driven one! Hoping it arrives soon
Actually i'm feeling stupid to clean these old parts.. maybe i should
just order new eagle rods and 11.5:1 pistons now and have everything balanced and all.
But.. maybe it's more important to get it DRIVEABLE first, and then take it all apart again to have more goodies.
It Will get em some day.. prepare your self for monster Quad in near future, i have more unseen secrect mods on drawing board..
