Nope. There is a bumper on the subframe near the rear of the trans that the it rests against. The dogbone on the 89/90's is still on a bracket mounted to the front of the trans.

I haven't seen that bumper actually touch anything unless the mounts are getting bad.

That's beside the point though, I like where your build is going. As long as you've got cruise and keep a reasonably streetable clutch the 5 speed will be a way better choice. Better mileage while traveling, gear reduction braking, the whole 2 extra gears thing is pretty sweet too.

Keep us posted man!

I have a left side subframe off of a 90 5 speed if you need one.

That sub-frame doesn't appear to have the mount he needs though...

I didn't think it was removable when I did Roberts.

That subframe is off a quad car. notice the two mounting holes toward the front of the rail. thats for the crossbeam to mount to.

Indeed it is. It's from a 1990 GTZ. I just came across a complete 1990 GT 5 speed, but also have a 1990 Corsica LTZ 5 speed locally that I can pull parts off of if you need anything!

Just a small update...installed an SCX 2-turn that replaced the very badly leaking 2-1/4 turn rack i had on it...i didn't realize how bad it was leaking until i unbolted the tie rods...fluid came pouring out of the boot.

More to come!!! 5-speed swap is next on the list but its going to have to wait a bit more as my DD needs some attention first.
