Here's the latest on the my GTZ project: Replacing the entire Suspension, Steering, Brakes, AC systems as well as Engine Bay Paint.
After a major set back (Thanks Brett), and collecting every NOS part available for a couple years I tore everything out from underneath the car and had the tie rods, control arms, frame rails, springs, fender wells, blower motor cover and other miscellaneous rust prone parts coated with Line-X protective coating.
The fire wall and cowl seams were re-sealed and the engine bay was freshly painted white
Now I am waiting on a couple leads for my "tabs" so I can finish up the front. The motor went in this evening and we still need to run the parking brake lines and install the new brake lever. Hope to have her back on the road APAP because this thing had all original extremely loose parts I've never driven a brand new GTZ before
Next up: New body parts and paint.

This is how you restore a car. Pay close attention people. Excellent work Uncle. Right on par with GTZfan's Quasar resto. I love the progress!

That Line-X is tough stuff! Good choice. I do spy some underbody rot though, now is the time to take care of it. Spray the whole underneath with Line-X! That would be a great way to prevent any more.

I am just finally finishing up the under carriage and now I am looking to get the final parts for the paint job. The only rusty place left is the rear bumper area ……
Can this entire piece be found used non-rusted or do I need to go ahed and order new from VPI?

I would just remove, sandblast & Line-X if I were you. The bumper is heavy enough metal that I would be really surprised if it wasn't saveable.

Got a popping sound in the right rear area occasionally when running over a rough patch of road...... everything is new in the rear including the axle bushings? Any ideas on what the hell it could be?

LOL, sorry, I couldn't help myself! As far as your popping sound, make sure everything is tight, other than that I don't know what to tell ya?
