I hear ya.

More!

He pulled the frame assembly into the garage about a week ago, to start work on it:

Yeah, a lot of work. Not only that, this frame is for a cab-and-a-half, so its longer than the original by around 14 inches. SO....

Here is after he had done quite a bit to the frame getting it ready for treatment and paint:

Yeah, the last shot includes the removed pieces of frame and various other rusted junk that isn't needed. You can see where the frame was welded back together. He used the original factory joints so you simply can't tell once its done.

Hopefully the next pics will be of the frame painted and ready to go back together!

I think I would HATE the frame work. Then again, that's why I'm a mechanic and Ace is a body guy. :P

I was getting sick of frame work... We had to do a full front clip on the race car and we were using an aftermarket front clip which we had to line up all the bars from the roll cage to.... thats not fun...

What you have going doesnt seem that hard as long as you can find all the parts your stripping off, or is dead due to rust.

Its amazing how much those frames haven't changed all the way up to my dad's 02 jimmy...

Hey, one of those rear ends doesn't have a set of 4.10 gears you'd wanna part with does it?!

Guess what today is?

Yep, update day. Here are some new shots for everyone!

Yep, front end is mostly assembled, getting ready to install the engine and transmission. :D

Had an issue with the clutch plate kit from RA. It came with the wrong clutch plate, won't line up with the mount holes at all. Doesn't even look like the one in the picture, so going to have to exchange it unfortunately. And had a real hard time getting the back seals for the front axles, took three tries to get the right size.

More as it happens!

I have moar!!!!!!

Been a while, work has been slow on the truck the past bit, lots of other projects going on. Anyways, some new shots. finally got the new clutch and stuff, so the engine/tranny are now bolted together, also put in the rear end, and have a new tank to install. He has already done up most of the brake lines, etc. Couple of shots of the cab, there were a few updates to it too.

Getting closer, slowly.

And we have more to update you with today. And I will have more tomorrow. Work has picked up on it. Actually I have a bunch more pics to take, the cab is already mounted on the frame and most of the internals are already back in it.

Here is where it was a week ago:

More tomorrow. We hope to be able to at least fire it over soon. Can't really run it yet, till we get the core support and rad installed.

Cab is mounted. Going together pretty well. Steering wheel has to go, its fugly. Dash is VERY nice. Not mint but damn close. No cracks, no warps and its an 83 in the exact same color as the one that was in it. Told him to buy a dash mat and protect the thing. He reset the OD to 0. Well almost 0. I think he went past before he was able to stop it. lol

Looking pretty good. Lots more to do.

Keep in mind, I have hardly done much with this personally. Dad's been doing most of it, I just help when he needs things like cabs moved, beds moved, transmissions hoisted, crap like that. lol

Starting to put the body back on must really make it worth it after all that work. You can finally see it come together =).

Keep it up! That steering wheel makes me think of my dads old S10, lol.
