Re: project 4444z, vac line under brake pedal? help, ASAP!!!

Post by speedy »

the fluid leval doesnt go down when you press on the pedal or come up when you realease, it stays the same regardless, if the lines were expanding, wouldnt it go up and down?? i guess i can order a set and replace them, but i doubt this is the issue, and no, i didnt replace the pads or anything.

Check your rear wheel cylinders yet? It's pretty obvious you're losing pressure somewhere which means either a leak or a bad seal or a bad line. Brake systems are NOT complex. Pretty easy to knock down where the culprit is.

My advice then? Start with the rear drums and work your way forward to the front of the car. Trace EVERY line and connection and/or seal.

well, i think i got the brake issue solved, i have to get lug nuts(someone has 5 different size's on it, yes, 5 DIFFERENT sizes), and get some other issues resolved, my issues now are:

guage lights still not working, tested the cluster in another car, it lit up, checked fuses, tneehey are all good, anyone have any suggestions? oh, and i replaced the switch.....

exhaust needs to be welded.
need to fix the side marker lights
need to fix the front fog light
need to swap the dash
need to swap the seats
need to make a headliner

if anyone has any suggestions on the guage issue, please throw them out there, i'll try about anything...

Check and make sure the illumination wire is still in the plug and wasn't removed to control an aftermarket light setup... I'm not sure what pin it is though, but Haynes should show it.

i'll have to look it up and try that, the dash has to come out anyways, but i was hoping to push it off untill after inspection.

i really dont know, someone told me to replace the pads and rotors so i did, wich i would have had to anyways, the rotors were rotted to hell, and the pads werent in the best of shape, but werent gone either, and some how, amazingly, the dam things work? im still stunned as to why.... becouse there was some pad on the old brakes, and the rotors wasnt wore down enought that i would imagined anything being affected, but i guess the piston must have been coming out just a little to far or something???

so... now the brakes work, i still cant get the instrument cluster to light up, i took the center counsel out and was going to start on the dash, theres about 20 wires under the dam thing that shouldnt be there and lead to no where... the previous owner was a fucking idiot, now im left to deal with his hack job. i have to replace the dash either way, so why not rip it out and start tracing wires to figure out why the instrument cluster isnt lighting up, if anyone has a wiring diagram for the instrument cluster, that would be a BIG help, haynes manual is the most useless book ive ever read.

My advice?

Get an uncut harness from the yard and swap it. It'll be much easier.

try finding a 1991 beretta gtz quad 4 in the junkyard.... with an uncut harness, and if you did, would you want to yank everything out of the car to get it??? lol.

on second though, would it work from the 94? is there a place where the wiring harness seperates? or is it all one?(engine bay, interior, fuel, tails, ect?) if it seperates in sections, i could use it, but if not, i still dont know how i feel about ripping it all out, all i need to know, is what wires controll the lights for the cluster? and where they come from and go, i know the cluster lights up in another car, and other then that, everything appears to be working... thats the only thing i need to get the car inspected, oh and the exhuast welded, but thats not a big issue either.

also, what are my options for engine mounts for these as far as new or solid mounts, im used to the 92+ style where you can just poly fill them...

I believe there's 4 harnesses on the car... Engine, Body, Forward lighting and rear lighting.
