That interior needs to go in an Indy, to be as close to the pace car as possible!

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
...Re-hung the muffler on the Yellow Indy. The car came to me with a glass-pack Cherry-Bomb, which was a little too loud and too raspy for a daily-driver type car (I have more 'daily drivers' than there are days of the week, and I don't even drive every day, so I say 'daily-driver type'
). I have an extra Flowmaster 'sitting around', but from all accounts, that won't help much. I finally snagged the Magnaflow I had in storage, but before I got around to picking it up, I welded-on an OE-type muffler from a higher-performance car (full 2" inlet, I think, with dual outlets, nothing special but it is quieter and won't be as restrictive as stock Beretta, and sounds better too). Unfortunately, the muffler-hanger I used to suspend the muffler broke almost right after I installed it, so the poor car has been low-riding its' muffler since. At least I know my weld is solid!
I finally got around to putting in a new hanger on the end today (and no, I don't mean 'coat-hanger', thanks).

Alignment... went from 1/16 toe out and the wheel to the left while driving to a centered wheel and 1/16 of toe in. Feels better on the road now.

Sorry sir, that's the only reason I picked up this car. That and the plastic gas tank.

??? Why would you specifically want a plastic gas-tank? Okay, they don't rust, but they still have their problems. Am I missing something on this?88_GTU wrote:Styluss wrote:BLACK INTERIOR!!!88_GTU wrote:Picked up a heap of a 90 GT for dirt cheap and started stripping it. Painted and installed a replacement hood on the Yellow Indy (actually yesterday). I originally bought this hood years ago off of an '87 production '88 model, silver with some peeling paint and otherwise perfect. I actually like the side-strut hoods better than the front-strut too, so perfect. I bought it for my '95 Z-26 when I bought it back from my niece after she crunched the front-end and gave up on the car (they didn't get along). Right after I flat-blacked the hood and installed it, I ran across a clean BRM (Black Rose Metallic) '96 Base in the yard, so I snagged the whole front-end and right door for the car, and set the now black hood off to the side. It got one of the corners bent by somebody in the interim, but that was easily straightened out. Then, after I sanded it back down for fresh primer and yellow paint, the wind gusted into the garage and blew it over -booom! nice new dent towards the front, outlining the arched sub-frame!

Now I need to decide on how I want to do the black striping, and make that happen... I do think it might need another coat of yellow, too, but it is okay for now. It looks better than the rest of the badly oxidized paint on the car...

Put in a new vacuum line to replace my .... missing vacuum line. Yay for vents that blow air independently again!

You answered your own question. I detest rust. I have to check inside the tank to make sure it's good. The entire car is cancer-riddled except the tank. It actually looks new.

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
Okay, I guess that works. I'm glad my GTU has a steel tank though, I couldn't route the dual exhaust the way I did if it was plastic... Three of my Berettas are '90s, so I guess I have three plastic tanks here.88_GTU wrote:You answered your own question. I detest rust. I have to check inside the tank to make sure it's good. Installed my ported and polished upper and lower intake manifolds and a new larger throttle body. Drove the piss out of the car so it would pass emissions, which it did. Now, to get to painting...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
Hummmm, my original post from around midnight last night has disappeared, interesting.....
So, here's a duplicate:
Monday, spent over five hours cleaning ( some with a toothbrush ) the Pacific NW moss and grime off the Turquoise 93 Beretta today after having her sit for over 14 months. In the last two weeks or so, changed the ICM, new plugs, general overall checkup, and a new battery. Next up, a few rubber hoses and probably a new CAT to pass DEQ, and get her fully on the road again.
How she look Beretta-addicts....?

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
(Yesterday) washed and waxed the Yellow Indy -well everything above the side-molding except for the roof. Okay, so half way there at least! The problem with this car is that one of the previous owners had it repainted after an accident, but they had a cheap single-stage paint-job (no clear-coat) put on over the original paint, didn't even scuff the original paint so far as I can tell. It was badly oxidized when I got the car last year, looked like crap. When I replaced the hood last week, the bright new shiny hood stood out against the faded and oxidized paint on the fenders, and the rest of the car stood out not in a good way.
I started with a rubbing compound and topped it off with a wax-job. Because I had to spend twice as long working on the car, I was only able to get half of it done. I'm also not waxing the roof (or actually the rear deck-lid or spoiler) yet, because I plan on striping the car soon, and I would have to strip the wax back off for the paint anyway, so I just did the rubbing-compound on the rear deck-lid and spoiler...
The difference is day-and-night, the car looks overall pretty good, which is great compared to how it did look. The picture quality isn't that great, but the difference is very noticeable in person. Now, I still have to paint on the stripes, finish the wax-job (and rubbing compound on the lower part and the roof), repaint the front bumper-cover, and the black trim front end rear, and the car will look about as good as I'll ever get it.
