I'm wondering what I can and cannot do to the car to compete in fastest stock class V-6. I won last year by default. I want to really earn it this year.
As far as engine performance the only things done are the 2.25" exhaust and a FDP billet throttlebody.  The stock airbox and paper filter are still on it. The A/C is gone and I've done the 5spd swap also.

I can swap back to a stock throttlebody if need be.

Yes, the throttlebody would push you into the Mod class.  Is your exhaust from the cat back only?  If it is cat back only, you would still be fine for the stock class.  The swap is fine assuming you did not add LSD to it, and it is a Beretta 5 spd (which of course it is.)  Thanks for asking, let me know if there is any other clarification you need.

As long as McGavin doesn't show up in his SC beast, I might have a chance at modified V6... maybe... as long as nobody's using laughing gas.

Why would any Beretta 5-speed be a one wheel wonder?  Does woody need to loose some weight?  My car would almost always spin both tires unless turning.  Perhaps you should add some balast on the other floorboard.

I'm not gonna lie, I could stand to drop some pounds...

But by looking at my tires, and how unevenly the fronts wore, I'm going to say that having an LSD would be key for me. That or maybe I just don't know how to launch a 5spd (which is probably more the case... the only 5spd I've dragged was my Scion tC).

And Eric... you have to show up to claim the fame!  

Geoff there's not much too it...  Just try to not spin too much.

Would there be any benifit to using auto-x tires? I'm referring to the OLD BF Goodrich Comp R1's... they have never been used, and I have 2 mounted on my old Z wheels. If it would be better to get some drag radials, then I'll just do that, depending on $$$.

Even if it would be the same as my street tires, I'd probably rather use those wheels/tires because my 17's are HEAVY... just the wheel weighs 25 lbs.

I'll get some pics up of the R1's in a little bit.

These are the tires I have 2 of: BF Goodrich Com T/A R1's, 225/60/16, Treadwear 60, Traction A, Temperature A.



If these would be better than my heavy street tires, I'll just use these.

I've had a set of those.  They are very stiff.  They are probably about the same as a good street tire.  If you save weight or height, then it will help.  If you can get a set of drag radials that would be better.

R1's are better suited for corners.  If you mount them up you'll find that out in a hurry.

Mike, question about the "Modified V6" category...

Is a boosted/non-NA application fall under a "Boosted V6" category?

Personally, I don't think it's fair to put boosted V6's in the same class as NA motors (even if it isn't a stock NA).

Prime example: My car (3400 5spd) versus McGavins car (3400 SC 5spd). Two totally different animals. A better comparison would be my car vs Asylum's 92 GT (3500 auto).

It's like comparing apples to oranges!

Just add nitrous....
