I fixed the lack of HIGH BEAM head lights by adjusting the staft for it. NOOOOOOW the key is a little hard to get out. YOu put it in the place to get it out and it does not come our real easy, sorta got to wiggle it some and pull on key at same time then it will come out. Before I messed with the highbeam shaft adjust the key came out fine.

Sounds like something got set a bit off or out of place.

Tim I have only one thing to try. Put some grease on the key, just a small amount. That does two things, it lubes and it picks up dust. Move the key to run and then back to off, also all the way back. Do that a few times and wipe the key off and see if there is alot of dust.

You don't have to go INTO the column to do the adjustment though... What did you move?

I don't mean I went INTO THE column. I dropped it down so I could get to the bracket that held the high beam switch and moved it up towards steering wheel as advised here.

Sounds like it might be a coincidence. If all you did was drop the column, I can't see what could have possibly happened. Did you get a new key made? Is there a burr on the old key? Try the lube, or maybe your ignition cylinder is failing.

That's why I only use GM keys and not Walmart copies

Take a wire brush to the new key, its catching. There's problem! Also, have your keys double cut, ill bet a dollar against a dog turd that it was a single cut key.

I agree. Use to cut keys on an old job, there was an auto setting, but I always did it by hand. Always went over twice and made sure there were not burrs with a wire wheel. My point: there are many lazy or unknowing key makers out there.
Hope you did try the grease. Over the years alot of pocket lint and dust gets in there.

just makes no sense that one moment it is working FINE, the next time we put the key in, we have issues. I will try the orig keys and the remakes at the same time, see if there is a diff.
