Hey, i just swapped to canuck motorsport springs and kybs all around. The front is pretty stiff and feels great in corners but the rear could be some more stiffer. Are there any other options out there for a stiffer rear on a 91 Beretta?

what KYB's in the rear did you use? GR2 or Gas-a-just?

Gas-A-Just is as stiff as you can get then... Unless you want to try to retrofit in some other application since there are no other brands available for a Beretta.

Do you want the rear to feel more stiff in corners or all-around? Adding a good rear swaybar will tighten the back end up in corners, but do no nothing for bumps & pot holes (which is a good thing, really).

you fools. use saab rears. the bilsteins are a HUGE upgrade over the gas-a-justs. except they run about a hundred a piece. and you can also use koni adjustables but from what i've heard the bilsteins are stiffer

To some people, just using a different application is not something they can understand on how to do, or want to invest in doing.

Is there any modifications needed to run the saab ones?

Bilstein or koni are your only performance options.

From what I have seen aftermarket beretta springs are generally pretty soft in the rear. Bad

Saab upper studs are 12mm where the beretta is 10mm... you have to ream out the upper mount to fit the new shaft, or come up with a new design for that mount... I'm not positive on what it was made of but I think it was a steel collar thats molded in rubber so if you ream it you need to be careful heat wise and not burn the collar out of the rubber mount.

Also on a 95+ you need to make a lower bracket that will hold the base. The 94 and older shocks mounted with a horizontal bolt, the 95+ ones have a bracket that is fixed to the base of the shock with a vertical stud that goes into the rear axle.

Notice in this pic how base of the shock mount is part of it, vs the one pictured in the J-body thread using a standard horizontal bolt mount.




You could remove this part from a set of these shocks and just get the right bolt to fit that to the Saab shock and the problem will be solved.

I'm still contemplating doing this, but I have MUCH cheaper options to reducing my squat off the line since the Koni's are rebound only for adjustment, not compression.
