Re: The Oil Catch Can

Here is what I hope is the final revision, and it addresses the overcoming blow-by, the changing of vacuum in cruise to positive pressure when throttling. I’ve noticed it occurs when hot, as little as 6” of power more from cruise at 40-50mph. So this is not much! I now added a filter but also moved ...

Re: The Oil Catch Can

More follow-up. I’ve now realized that a WOT situation in 4th gear engine hot, will rid of vacuum. So this will be solved by adding that supplied breather filter on top of the catch can with a one way (out) valve. That way, the system will run suction most of the time and for that hot high-gear pull...

Re: The Oil Catch Can

Follow-up: 5 tanks of gas and one heaping tablespoon of oil in the catch can…barely enough to drain. Rev to 3k daily. This is on the sealed system - no fresh air in. Engine likes it. I’m going to let time continue its test and plan to put this on my Indy in the near future. I think that this pcv set...

Re: The Oil Catch Can

Yes, this engine DOES have a crack from top to bot on the cylinder wall. I noticed this after the crack had extended through the cylinder head and ordered a head from eBay. It wasn’t until THAT was in the mail that I started prepping the deck for install and that’s when I saw the cyl wall crack. ALL...

Re: The Oil Catch Can

Okay, finally got around to messing with this. The main prob on this 89gt is oil smell, evidenced by oil residue all under the hood and surrounding the valve cover (front). New valve cover gaskets and grommets both front and back. Yes I cleaned it well! Gotta add some sealant from a tube on these to...

Re: The Oil Catch Can

Thanks for the input guys! Eric swaps the front and rear covers operation and catch can in line with the pcv side. Nicely done. Good video - the last time I checked the pcv on my high mileage 89gt, I just shook it to judge how clean it was. Forgot about the spring strength! I bet it’s gone by now. G...

The Oil Catch Can

Oh ideas ideas. Subject car: 2.8/3.1 v6 Forget you quad guys… that oil recirculation system is nicely done. The v6ers however… Our fuel injectors spray and this fuel spray goes past the valve stems to help keep them clean amidst the smoky oil air drawn into this by PCV (back valve cover) and the fro...

Ship car by train between VA and FL

I posted this in regional as well. Don’t get excited, this post is more of an answer to a question that you didn’t ask. I want to plan a berettafest where we could all converge on a convenient spot and go to (Yellowstone for example) by train. Hey, this is my first idea! However, I’m closing the box...

Shipping car by train

I want to plan a berettafest where we could all converge on a convenient spot and go to (Yellowstone for example) by train. Hey, this is my first idea! However, I’m closing the box on this idea after finding that we just don’t have that kind of infrastructure. We CAN ship cars on a train however. Fo...

Re: Interior Sound damping

Thanks for the help guys! Here is my experiment post! This test cost me $200 and several days time. I have a lot of time into this. 3hrs typing this just today so draft is what it is and I need to get back to the garage! I used a stock 91 v6 auto gtz for this test. I bought more material than I need...

Interior Sound damping

Candice and I could not talk to each other well at 50mph on the way to the South Dakota bfest. 3 days is a longer time when talking is hard. It was then that I decided to finally act and do something about it. I have a nice set of components that I just hated to not hear properly at highway speed. A...

Re: Reproduction dew strips. Please read and please vote.

Unchanged. I went with the longer version of the strip material and I think that it’s closer to factory and wipes the window as it should. The exterior portion of the imulsified rubber-plastic is now the plague for all windows, not just this lower strip. This is the part that is pulled off leaves al...

1991 v6auto red GTZ east TN

Just so I can keep something fishing out there… I have stopped actively advertising due to tire kickers and scammers. I will freshen up the car more as I continue to drive it and ask more for it on autotrader later this year. It’s a good car. I’m not going to unload it. However the price is soft bec...
