Alternator belt install

Post by GTZ&IROC-Z »

you CAN bypass the a/c compressor, i bought a pully from the gm dealer and it costed me like 15 bucks CDN then you just buy the bbelt w/o A/C, but you have to make sure that theres a threaded part for that pully on your block, bacause not all cars are compatible to switch to that.

Alternator belt install

Well now i'm REALLY confused.  What could be making it not start with the belt on and not start with it on?  When it started this ****, it'd act like it was getting no gas, and the battery would drop off at a really fast rate.  It did this to me at a gas station & i got somebody to jump it.  It finally started but that's when it fried the belt.  Smoked like mad and made a God-awful noise.  Managed to make it home before the battery went dead and before it was overheated to death.  Back to square one.  Could it be the battery?  I'm at a loss...

Just goto the local parts store and by a belt that is WITHOUT A/C NO Bypass pulley.

It'll be fine.  I have it done, no problems here.  The belt will be a lot shorter.  Like 61.5" or something.  I forget.

You do have a 2.8/3.1 MPFI...  Right?

I'm in Clinton Twp.  The area of Hayes Rd. & Utica.  It's not the alternator.  I took it off and had
Murray's test the thing.  And the engine is a 2.8.  If the belt wasn't on right, would that make
it not start?

We should meet up, and I can take a look at it sometime next week maybe?
I might have a a/c compressor around not being used.
Maybe meet up at the murrays on masonic and Little mack?
