Re: RSM Supercharger on a 3400/3500 hybrid? UPDATE 1/6/13
Yeah none of my pipes are flared because most are hand turned..
Is there a way to go about flaring them? Some are steel btw
This is what i found..

Re: RSM Supercharger on a 3400/3500 hybrid? UPDATE 1/6/13
There are a few ways you can do it.
1.) Weld a bead on the end of the pipe, and grind smooth.
2.) Take a pair of channel locks and bend a small flare all the way around the pipe.
3.) Buy a flaring tool; you can make your own out of some vice grips and a thick washer or two. Google pipe flaring tool and you'll see what I mean.
Personally, I'd just use channel locks. Nobody will see the beads/flare so it doesn't matter what they look like unless you care. And honestly, if/when I do a turbo build, I'll just use the channel lock method because it works just as well as a bead, is cheaper, and can still look good.

That's a pretty sweet bead maker to copy, but remember it's not going to be easy on the steel pipes... Know anyone with a sheet metal shop? Most people have a bead roller because adding a bead to a flat square panel will add significant rigidity. I know my cousin has one.

No but its only .050 wall, i think i may be able to do it with grips, if not ill mig a bead around the steel ones, i only actually have like 4 ends to flare and 2 are steel

None of mine are flared either. Since I went to worm clamps I haven't had any issues. If I start blowing them off again, I'll hair spray them. If that doesn't work, then i'll flare them. But I have a lot of pipes to flare if I have to go that route... I can think of 6 on the top of my head and likely a couple more

Yeah I ordered high torque hose clamps from MSC today, If my piping comes loose again though I'm going to flare them..
My next question is has anyone had experience with ceramic coating either the supercharger or my aftercooler housing? I don't like shiny and they basically both are, I was thinking of using the paint I used on my piping which is a ceramic brake caliper paint but didn't know if that was a good idea, Would the paint hold heat in the supercharger or keep the heat out? In the same thing with the aftercooler housing..

Did some research and found out that coatingnonly hold in heat so im going to skip that.. Made some more progress and cnc machined some 3/4" aluminum plenum spacers to level my intake and also bought some hi-torque clamps good for 85inlbs
Beefy new clamps

Re: RSM Supercharger on a 3400/3500 hybrid? UPDATE 1/6/13
TCE TB is 65mm... 3500 neck should be 65mm to match... I don't think you really needed to do that.
Re: RSM Supercharger on a 3400/3500 hybrid? UPDATE 1/6/13
I was boring my homemade tb adaptor to match up with the plenum ha, bored them both to 70mm so that theres no mismatch ect.3X00-Modified wrote:TCE TB is 65mm... 3500 neck should be 65mm to match... I don't think you really needed to do that.
