Adjusting the clutch

Post by Beretta gtz 1990 »

Hey I had just picked up a 1990 Beretta gtz with the 2.3L five speed and just joined this site, It's my new project car and the clutch peddle seems to be a little funky it needs to be pushed all the was to the floor to be able to shift its a strong clutch tho Im trying to adjust the peddle so it has a more stiff feel to it (and so it dosent need to have the clutch pressed to the floor) I tryed to bleed the clutch hoping that would solve it but it didn't seem to have a bleeder screw on it any help or ideas on how to bleed or adjust the clutch would be a great help, thanks

There is no adjustment. Sounds like you may have air in your clutch system.

To bleed:

Unhook your master cylinder rod from the cutch pedal.
Uncap master reservoir so you can see what is going on.
Remove slave from bell housing.
Push slave rod back in to slave cylinder by hand and watch for bubbles in the reservoir. Keep the slave low in the engine bay while you do this, so it is not higher than the master. Keep pumping the slave rod until there are no more bubbles.
Check fluid level and top off if necessary.
Reassemble.

Here is my thread on when I fixed my clutch issues.

My problem was a few things. But the info should help you out.

Here is the link:
http://www.beretta.net/forum/viewtopic. ... 81#p108181

First things first, take the assembly out as one piece and bench bleed it, youtube has many videos on how to do this.
Once I did that, and got it right after a few tries, I had no more air.

I suggest a second person help you install the assembly back in the car so that it all stays in the right position, air at the top, etc.
Unless the slave is inside the trans, then idk how to help you.

My link also has a link within it that I linked to for aftermarket hoses and more info about the setup, just in case.
I also mounted my slave a bit different, and adjusted my new type 2 adjustable master.

Make sure your not pushing the clutch in to far in the end, I almost made that oops.

Hope this helps! :)
