straight forward questions
What do i need for my 91 3.1 5 speed to swap to a 3400? couldnt find a definite answer for how to actually make the custom front mount so how is it done? what are the measurements? i also have a bar that goes from one k frame to the other so is that going to be in the way? And last but not least can i use a 96 obd2 harness and just not plug in the abs stuff and the trans stuff?

Re: straight forward questions
Damn there should be a sticky on this.
Ok here is what I remember:
There is a guy on the Z24 site that makes the mount
WOT-Tech sells a 3400 swap chip for the 5sp
So you have a frame brace?

Re: straight forward questions
well...its a frame brace but it is different from the normal ones im used to seeing where it goes under those 4 long subframe bolts. it has one bolt on each side and runs under the oil pan.
Re: straight forward questions
and if i get the chip from wot tech i still have to change my wiring. correct? i dont see how i wouldnt have to

Re: straight forward questions
If you get a "chip", you will need the factory 91 wiring or other OBD1 setup. OBD2 is different and does not use removable memcals.
You will also need a few little things like a 3x00 throttle cable and fuel lines.

Re: straight forward questions
ill get a picture tonight of it lol and woody im just curious as to how i use the 3.1 wiring on a 3400??? how do i do the ICM and the fuel injectors?
Re: straight forward questions
If you use the 91 OBD I controller for the 3.1l on a 3400 then you will be running the injectors as a MPFI and not SFI. In a MPFI setup 3 injector are on the same injector driver and the other three are on another injector driver. You would need to rewire the small injector harness on the engine to tie the two sets of three injectors together.

Can you run the 99 Venture van 3400 injectors on a 3.1 like you can on a 3100?

Re: straight forward questions
Icm is from the 3400 (or 3.1) along with the injectors the injector harness of the 3.1 will need a little soldering so that you have the new style plugs on it. but the wiring is all plug and play. you'll need to extend the icm wires i believe since the 3.1's icm is down by the front exhaust manfiold and the 3400 is on top of the rear maniTylerlp wrote:ill get a picture tonight of it lol and woody im just curious as to how i use the 3.1 wiring on a 3400??? how do i do the ICM and the fuel injectors?
Many z24 guys have used the stock subframe brace with 3400 swaps no mods needed to that
Re: straight forward questions
ok cool. the only reason im considering this is because for some reson my 3.1 will not run right. i have replaced the icm, coils, crank sensor, fuel filter, plugs, wires, air filter, tps, ecm, and ive even tried to see if the cat was plugged up by taking the exhaust up and it still wont start and run like it should. it wont idle or rev up and just dies. it also slightly backfires through the intake every once in awhile.

Re: straight forward questions
I think that's an electrical problem anyway, so swapping a 3400 would not help.
