Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
It doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the gears that I can see, so really it's a question of, wtf brand chain is this... Second chain goes on just as tight as the first one did.

No did not send them for cryogenic treatment, didn't have the time with my legacy blowing up and all. I hope to get a hold of Marc today but he doesn't respond to emails quickly at all and I don't have his number.

Um... all highway mileage out to Bfest Denver and I didn't touch the Nitrous once... Hell I never even brought it to the strip, Kinda glad I didn't now.
Right now a OEM GM setup sent fro cryo treatment has lasted the longest for me, about 4 years... This is a bit sad.

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
I guess the best way to describe the sound is it sounded like a solid lifter engine with WAY too much rocker clearance. Or as my wife so eloquently put it... "It sounds like there are a bunch of marbles rolling around in there" It was loose enough to hit the dampener bosses if you can see it in the video, the sides of each boss are ground down from the chain... Which means metal in my oil...

I bet your filter is packed! I feel sorry for the pump and the person that has to clean it out.

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
It wasn't that much material removed, but I'm hoping the filter caught it all... As far as the pump they are quite tough and I doubt that caused any issues.
Just got off the phone with Marc and he has no idea what could have happened. They are Cloyes standard Double roller chains so nothing special, but at the same time Cloyes has not done me well in the past when it comes to replacement parts.
He asked for me to ship him the parts off the motor so he could measure it to see if he can figure out what went wrong... The only thing he could think of is the teeth being cut wrong somehow which over time caused the chain to stretch to try and fit the profile.

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
Did he mention anything about the other people who were in on the group buy? Such as him taking care of the problem?

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
Currently no he did not say anything about that. He is shipping me my second set of gears that he had for a while now because he was going to coat them and engrave them, but never had a chance.
I can only assume once he figures out what the issue is/was then he would go to the gear cutters perhaps and place fault on them and see if they would replace the sets that are possibly cut wrong... if that is the case.
That's 22 sets that could be bad... Yikes...
And there are 54 sets pictured in this when he posted that they were being made....
Holy crap if those are all F-ed up thats nuts.

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
I'm wondering if I'm the only one who has run one of these yet... It sounds like I might be.
