Booster swap was a piece of cake in my car. Done in 10-15 minutes. And I snapped a stud on a brand new strut mount. What the gently caress?! Didnt crank on it, even had a 3/8 drive ratchet. Quality crap right there. So I gotta pull the damn strut & replace the stud. Didnt throw my old mounts out yet, luckily.

Uploaded some pics from the rack blanket and new brake lines too.

Which master is that, the Lumina or L-body one?

91 Lumina. There is a 95 Monte master that has the same specs but is set up for ABS. Brakes feel firmer with the bigger bore master, but I also swapped from rubber to braided hoses at the same time.

Which top mounts did you buy recently? Moog or ACDelco? I'm running the AC ones from RockAuto.

That's the truth, when i changed my struts ( which the strut bearings were only 2k-3k miles old) i had the front bolt on the bearing spinning with the socket, i came to realize that the threaded insert in the bearing housing was spinning in the stop of the bearing mount, had to grind the damn thing off to get the strut out..

Woody do you think there is any way to replace the booster and not disconnect the master? My gut has always told me that the booster is a wear item. It sure seems like no one replaces them and they think that the master is the problem. I sure did, that is why I have a master in a box waiting to go on. I did seach for a booster on RA, but couldn't find one for my 95(well I think there was a Dorman, but screw that).

You have to disconnect the master from the booster, but not the lines from the master. That's what I did this time. And I have to screw with it again...my brakes are lightly dragging with the new booster. I'm gonna investigate the pedal and see if it's an issue there, but if not I have to pop it out again and modify the booster rod.

Oops the lines are what I ment(very tired when I posted that). Thanks for the info.
I just tested Echoes71 brakes and they are the same as mine. With 55k on his car I'd say the booster is just fine. Or at 55k our brakes go to hell(lol).
Woody your cailper bolts may need some grease.

No, the caliper bolts are good. It's definitely the booster I just swapped in and the pedal. I can hook my foot under the pedal and pull it up and the brakes release completely. So for some reason the booster pushrod is hanging up. Didnt have time to even touch the car this weekend. It was the wifes birthday and got caught up with other stuff.
