carquest has a PN 53-7766 But it says discontinued when stock exhausted... and their shitty site will NOT let me search the number without entering a location then tells me all the stores in my area don't support buy online pickup in store so I can't even search for parts... Fin stupid!

Have you checked the egr to make sure it isn't sticking open? When stuck open, the engine will not idle. Also, have you checked the knock sensor? I think on some models there is a knock sensor module under the little door on computer.

Thanks, I think the EGR is okay. I don't know about the knock sensor.
With the new fuel pump the car is functional. I'm done working on it, so this thread might be done too. We actually bought a Prius for commuting, so the Beretta will only be driven occasionally. Might be time to sell it, actually. Though I don't expect to get much.

No, since it tested fine on the appropriate pins I left it alone.

Have you pulled the battery cables off at all completely? If not, do so and leave them off for at least 15 minutes. Then reconnect and go see if it changes anything for the car.

I've tried that a few times, even leaving it over night. It still runs poorly next time.
The thing that boggles me is that it starts out with no power, wanting to stall, etc. Once it warms up it runs okay (not great) but there's a sudden transition between the two states. I can actually hear it pep up suddenly, and then it can make it out the driveway. I wonder if the computer switches modes once the coolant temp hits a certain level, or something happens to the gas/air mixture.
I have an interested buyer who owns another '93. So he might be able to narrow it down by swapping parts or PCM. I'll even tell him about this thread, he can pick up where I left off.
Me? I'm learning to maintain a 2002 Prius, which is a fun little car (though not much room under the hood). Fortunately it is another car with an active forum community.

Hard starting lack of power when cold def points to a CTS sensor, but you've replace the CTS for the ECM from, or you didnt and I just assumed you did both the CTS for the IP and ECM.
Could also unplug the knock sensor and see if that changes anything.

I actually didn't replace the CTS. It tested fine, so it seems to be feeding good information to the computer.
Knock sensor sounds plausible. If I get a chance I'll disconnect it and see what happens.
