Engine Question
Engine Question
I've had my Beretta for almost a year now. Its my first car and I'm not too familiar with cars. But I was doing a little research and found that the v6 engine produced less horse than the quad 4. Can anyone explain how this is possible?

Re: Engine Question
The Q4 is a twin cam that has more aggressive cams, higher compression, better flowing head and a high flowing intake manifold.

Re: Engine Question
...And runs a higher RPM, too. The Quad combustion-chamber is also roughly hemispherical, as opposed to the V-6's more wedge-shaped chamber, and the Quad places the spark-plug in the middle of, rather than off to on one side of, the chamber, which makes for a more efficient fuel/air burn. Add to that the reduction of internal rotating mass from having four cylinders instead of six, and less becomes more.
Basically, it breathes better, fills the combustion-chambers more completely, compresses the fuel/air mixture to a higher pressure, lights it better, and lights it more often per cylinder, and has more displacement per cylinder. It also requires premium unleaded, is notorious for overheating and warping the head if not taken good care of, and is quite a bit fussier about maintenance overall.
