Making a rice killer.

Post by Beretta gtz 1990 »

I picked up a clean 1990 gtz hence the name. But any how I wanted to beef it up I couldn't really find the answers I was looking for on the forum but I'm also not to good at the computer so it could be here. But anyone on here know where to buy performance parts like…. stage two clutch and performance suspension. I'm kinda new to performance work but I still know some about car's

ps I'm in minnesota so if you know any stores around that sell them or any web sites end product I want to turbo it and race with it.

Circle track? Or the 1/4? How many miles are on this 2.3? Any plans to rebuild?

Isn't the whole "rice killer" thing a little old?

Lots of information on this site, spend some time looking at topics and using the search.

Nah, not on a '90 GTZ Quad car. Beat 'em at their own game and keep the car DOHC 4-banger. Definitely go turbo to max out your return though -anything else won't quite see the full potential. Search around on e-bay to get an idea on clutch pricing, but beware regarding quality as some of the stuff there is just junk. I've gotten two Stage-2/3 ceramic clutches off of e-bay though, and was happy on the quality on both of them. Just be careful who you buy from...

You COULD use the PCM from a '99+ J-body (LD9 2.4L Twin Cam, the engine that succeeded the Quad 4), and have it reflashed for the supercharger setup available through GM; the GM kit actually comes with the bolt-on SC, bigger injectors, and a 2-BAR MAP, just match-up the injectors and plug in a 2-BAR and get the reflash so it can read the boost from your turbo, and you should be good to go -the .1 Liter displacement difference shouldn't matter, especially since the 2.3 Quad in '90 actually breathed better than the LD9. That would be the easiest way to do it, I think. I am already running a turbo on my '97 LD9-powered Z-24, and have a different idea of how to tune it properly, hopefully I will have it done this summer. The LD9 has a stronger low-end and mid-range than your Quad, but the Quad also has much better top-end and better peak HP than the LD9, so size the turbo appropriately for your top-end -my turbo is grossly under-sized, so I have positive boost very early on and can take advantage of my lower-ranged torque-curve, but my engine out-runs the turbo at high RPMs.

Good luck with the car, any pics?
