Driver/passenger window replacement
Anyone done this?
Do the replacement windows come with the channels already installed?
If not, is there a special adhesive to install the glass to the channels?
Has anyone ever ordered a window that didn't have the dotted trim on it?

Hi Paul! I asked this question years ago and to prevent me from passing a run-around answer to you, [it depends] is where it comes from. I'd call a good 3 automotive glass shops, biggest in the yellow pages and ask the same thing.
Ask where their glass comes from.
I was told that all glass has the dotted trim if the factory made it that way originally.
if it also helps, I was able to run a lengthwise "washer" along the trip to grab ahold of the door window rear tabby-piece to prevent it from falling out of channel. they will fall out of channel as they wear, and I did this ten years ago. I haven't had a window out of track since. Adjust your tighness of surrounding trim so that the window does not see any more friction, go for equal, or that 1% more is okay.
the washer I speak of is like a dense foam or rubber 1/4" stripe tape stuff I found laying around. I put it along the outer part that will help grab that tabby thing. Friction is a non issue because it rubs on the liner that you don't tighten, though if we overtighten these clammed pieces, then it rubs.
I have not been able to find the tabby piece, nor glue, nor anyone who knows what happens when this rear window part wears out on glass that is perfectly okay.

This is a picture of the replacement. The part number was common to 7 different places I called and I don't know how many manufacturers made them for aftermarket. So I had to settle for it.
I couldn't take measurements because my other window was broken but I noticed it seems to be a 1/4 to 3/8 taller than the original. It is resting on the rubber stop on the bottom of the door but still protrudes that much above the top of the door panel. If you were a passenger it would be uncomfortable to rest your arm on the top of the door panel, if you know what I mean.
I believe the sash channel is just a bit longer because it retains those two rubber stops on it (...they do not interfere. The OEM round stop on the bottom hits the glass before they hit the bottom of the door) and the glass is a tad longer top to bottom. Overall my observation is that came up a little longer but seals up great at the top and sides. It also has the same border.
Just an FYI for everyone for the future if they run up against it.
