EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
Looking for the bolt size/thread needed to block the EGR on my exhaust manifold. I forgot to take it with me this morning to work and the fastener store isn't open on the weekend! Would really appreciate the help.
Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
If it's the pipe that goes into the exhaust you are looking to plug, then that should be an Oxygen sensor thread. Which is M18 x 1.5. Same as a spark plug for that engine as well.

The thread does look different than an oxygen sensor and a spark plug
More course of a thread, can anyone else confirm this ? My 3400 was out of 2001 venture van, but from what I read online they were all the same

I know that is what I used for the manifold, but I had no information on where the 3x00 came out of. In my case, it was likely from a car not van.

managed to make it to the store tonight, i can assure you it is nothing even close to a spark plug. Will post some pics asap
Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
Does it have a bushing to reduce the dia' of hole still in place?

EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
It did not have a bushing at all
The thread seems to be a 1/2 inch plumbing cap
I just drilled it out to better fit into the hole

Wait, you would like to have the 3400 manifolds? I have a set with the cross over pipe too. Also have the heat shields for them.

Why don't i want them ? Other than the connection to the downpipe ?

That rear mani might hit the rack. The o2 will at least smack it.themixer wrote:i wanted the larger 3400 headers, if i came this far of putting this motor in might as well have some flow

Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
Just for fun I was thinking about a custom cross over. Shouldn't be all that hard for a good welder to do. Take a 3400 pipe, reduce it down at some point and weld on the 3100 pipe.
The point: more of an equal flow from each side of the engine. By far not the best, but it should be at least helpful.
That I know of having a 3400 manifold on the "front" side and a 3100 on the rear would be a first.
Hell I'm willing to try it if no one else is. Anyone want to make the cross over for me? I have the 3400 cross over and I'm will to pay for the 3100 parts and shipping. Guess the heat shield could be a small problem though.
