Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
well i wish i knew about this issue before now.
found a 1995 3100 grand prix manifolds and just installed it, but it doesn't look right. going by car part.com i believe i need one from a grand am.
can anyone confirm before i rip this apart again for the 3rd time?

Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
I've always used Beretta/Corsica manifolds with 3x00 swaps if headers werent being used.

Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
The LOWER one is the beretta style, upper one in that pic does not come on a beretta at all.

Upper one looks like a 3400 rear, the beretta one looks almost identical to the Grand Prix manifold, do you have pics of this installed in the car ? I would like to see how close to the rack it is

Post a pic with what you have currently going in the car.

Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
Are you using automatic trans & engine mounting brackets/mounts? I agree that that manifold you have now in the rear is proper for clearance, however it seems your engine is positioned very close to the bulk head.

Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
In that picture i do not have the trans mount connected its just supported with a jack, i will continue and post a picture after the final mount is in.
As for the engine mounts I purchased a mount from david hill seemed flawless in its design. AC compressor for the 3.1 bolted right up. Acquired new aftermarket mounts for the rear of the engine and front, they all just seemed to slide into place as per normal. I did not know there was a difference between the manual mounts and automatic ones. When doing my 5 speed swap in this car, i did not change out any of the engine mounts, just the trans mount on the right side.

Re: EGR exhaust manifold block off bolt
Having auto mounts in place with a manual trans configuration will still allow 90 and older swaps fit in going unnoticed of having the wrong mounts/brackets.
There should be a "M" on the manual trans rear pass side mount bracket indicating "M" for "Manual Transmission"
For the front right (ps) engine mount bracket, the seller making you the custom bracket should have known to make you a mount for what you have (manual trans with 3400 using A/C ) .
The mounts AND mounting BRACKETS are different from auto to manual. With a mix of mounts and brackets, you are likely to premature axles and have worse wheel hop issues.

Yes he knew I was installing a 3400 5 speed.
I really wish I had this information again when I did my original 5 speed swap, I had an entire donor car. It really had been a hard car on axles I just assumed it was my driving. Absolutely 0% swap guides to help on that one.
So I cannot use any of the mounts I have, and I also need different mount brackets
Delayed again and these parts are not easy to find in my area
