Up for sale...88 GTU & 87/88 GT
Up for sale...88 GTU & 87/88 GT
Need to sell 88 Black GTU and a Gold GT
Black 88 GTU is Automatic. Same owner since new.
Engine was removed for overhaul/replacement at 205,000 miles (never happened - had kid$).
Digital Dash (worked fine but intermittently showed partial numbers and would sometimes straighten out and display okay again)
When below 1/4 tank if you fill up with fuel it takes awhile (10-20 miles) for the digital gauge to read full again
Dash has a black aftermarket cover on it.
Original GTU Rims not the steel rims but aluminum ones.
Missing side skirts of the GTU package (go figure - I'm at a loss where the H they're at. )
Paint is rough - clear coat faded and peeled off on the trunk and hood and top only - sides are fine as is the usual case.
Both Cars have been stored inside my hangars and been there for some time now.
radio missing in both cars.
Original speakers were replaced and 6x9's are now missing (I found out tonight)
but the 600watt amp and 250 watt mosfet amp for a 10" cerwin vega woofer installed between the 6x9's is there.
Digital cross-over still installed (all in trunk up against the back of the seat).
87-88 Gold GT Manual shift (getrag - racing transmission rebuilt with gears from california and North Carolina racing)
(This car was the "sleeper" car - original looking Gold GT but ran very very VERY well lol - loved it - many laughs from people getting smoked with this thing and spending hours in a parking lot somwhere proving it was just a simple stock GT with no changes. Don't know why but it was quick and fun to drive
So, GTU has no engine in it. was pulled for overhaul/swap but never happened.
I have 1, 2 or possibly 3 2.8L engines for cores and/or for parts (somewhere, I only scene 1)
Going to take some pictures of them tonight when at the hangar they are stored in.
GT starts and drives okay but the check engine light came on tonight driving around the airport and of course the rotors grinded whent he brakes were applied from sitting so long.
I am in Clarksburg, WV.
Not interested in parting out (yet) as I have to give up the hangar by Mid August 2014 and the cars need to go.
Pics available from tonight upon request or I can postem here once I get them off the camera.
Any specific pictures or questions you'd like to see or have answered just please let me know.
Thanks for looking/reading. As is usually the case - hate to part with them but have no where to store to work on them any longer.
The black GTU has basically no rust with a dent in the front drivers side fender up by the headlight and is missing the side ground effects.
Both have surface rust where rock chips were on the hood but nothing major like gapping holes of rust.
Looking to get between a thousand ($1,000) and fifteen hundered ($1,500) for both cars and motors.
If there's anything else I have for them they go too (addntl Brakes, rotors, carpets, etc... (If I can find them). Any misc parts located/found/discovered after the sale will be shipped to the buyer provided they don't live somewhere like Egypt or some far off land... lol.
Thanks again, this is my first post and I hate that its to sell my cars - didn't even know the site existed or would have hit it and signed up years ago...

love that tan interior !
Re: Up for sale...88 GTU & 87/88 GT
I have a grey set and a tan set SOMEWHERE I bought back in the 90's for them. Just the floors though no headliners.
Started looking for more of the items last night and can't seem to find'em or a bunch of other stuff.
Did find the one 2.8L with a dropped/broken valve in it.
1/2 the rebuild kit is there.
Guess this is what happens when you have a 15 year old who wanted, at one time, to rebuild and "trick-out" one of the cars. Parts and pieces seem to be everywhere - go figure.
