coolant temp sensor

Can anybody snap me a pic of their engine coolant temp sensor plug I need too see what side the grey/red wire goes into the plug.

Went out to check mine, got a good look and came back to post. Just before I did my memory kicked in(you don't have a 95). Mine is dark blue to the right and yellow toward the engine. Not much help there......but the lightest color should be the ground.

Isn't the switch itself grounded when its threaded in? Cuz I still throw a code when I have the sensor plugged in (but it is not threaded into the hole due to my auto meter gauge).. I just looked and I actually put on a new harness plug (5 years ago) I'm thinking I might of wired it in wrong maybe that's why the code wont clear, I tried plugging in the sensor and grounding the threads but still have the code come up


this is what I have the yellow (pin on left) going to my grey wire which is E16 on pcm then the black (right on pic) going to my grey/red wire leads to MAP sensor and B6 pin on ecm

Should be a resistance sensor, that is if my failing memory is telling me right. It must be in the coolant stream.

Your engine fueling is determined by the coolant temp... Removing this sensor to put an Autometer one in it's spot will result in a poorly running engine all the time... Even if you get the code to go away. You need to have the ECU temp sensor reading the coolant temp period... Find another location for the Autometer sending unit.

That's the plan I just haven't had the time to swap it in due to my wife just having baby, got any suggested locations? It wasn't my plan to keep it grounded and uninstalled I just wanted to see if it would remove the code and make my rad fan run properly.

For the stock sensor... stock location. Remove the mechanical gauge and install the correct sensor for the computer. Without this the engine believes the coolant temp is -40* and never mind the fan running all the time you also have it running in open loop all the time and overly rich.

Damn rights it runs rich! I will be putting the stock sensor in its location I ment for the auto meter one. Now its all coming back to me I put in the aftermarket gauge because I have a digital dash and it went berserk the only thing I can read is the speed and rpm that's it. Do you think I could T the location and do both?

The sensor needs to be submerged in the coolant path, putting a T there will prevent good flow to the sensor which will result in a very inaccurate reading. there are other spots on the motor that you can install the autometer gauge but in the end is it even necessary? The only secondary gauges I have on my car are Wideband O2 sensor and Fuel Pressure.
