I have a 1990 gtz that will not pass smog. nox way too high, due to high combustion temp. egr takes care of this, but the 2.3l engine has no egr. any body know how the nox is controlled on this engine ?
PLEASE HELP !

Which fuel are you running.  The Quad does not need an EGR to pass.  Some will almost pass with no converter in good running conditions.

Don't run E85 and burn +92 unleaded fuel (92 to 94 works) octane.  Then retest.

I'm curious why you say that because all of those fuels would burn cooler than regular?

I must be missing something.

Mine failed because of a bad injector. It made one cylinder run lean.

It's recommended to run premo fuel for a H.O.
Plus it should use less fuel using +91 octane.

91 octane is the recommended fuel, but I didn't understand why not to try the other fuels.  They are likely oxygenated by ethanol.

I don't think the factory computer can compensate near enough for E-85, so I wouldn't bother.
