noisey valves...

Post by 1990quadgtz »

hey there... on ths 90 gtz quad4 i got about a month ago. the valves are starting to get a little loud.it has plenty oil .... oil pressure guage is pegged out.... goes there once i start it.. they were not as loud when i got it..it starts perfect has great power no misses or anything... revs past 7000 though i've only done it a couple of times. i read through some of the past posts and someone recomended lucas oil treatment...car has 126000 miles but engine has about 15000 on it...

what do you think??    thanks

Could be the valves have been hammered on the tops and need replaced.  Also, with the over-rev you could have bent some of them.  Also the cam could be messed up or the rockers jammed up.  Try a good oil flush, then take off the covers and check the cam and rockers and valves.

any other ideas......that seems like alot considering it still runs real good. isn't there a rev limiter on this engine. someone i thought said 6750 once.i know that is the redline. but it has never cut out on me..if yall think that is the problem. then i look into it more...

     thanks alot

THere is a limiter in the ECU but I believe that it is speed controlled.

The oil pressure seems high too, Unless someone put in a high pressure pump.  That would point to a problem with the oil flow.
