chrome plating wheels
anyone ever chrome plated..after seeing this pic of wheels black chromed i'm kinda curious on how it would look if they were GTZ wheels..
i mean that kinda black chrome on this..too flashy or ok

Probably Cheaper to do a chrome looking powdercoat I'm sure and then have it cleared in powder as well.

i'll have to look into that..i mean damn i only paid $50 for the wheels but like 3x that for the center caps..lol
probably won't happen this year as with winter approaching they will end up on the car soon..i'd want to keep the silver edge like how it was painted from the factory..
honestly now that you said that iirc years ago i was going to get my uim black chrome powder coated..

Chrome Plating would require the wheel to be polished to an almost paint like finish for it to be that good. You would need a minimum of a 600 grit depending on the plater and how much copper/nickel they use. There isn't a real good way of masking either. Price is very dependant on the area but around here if you were to bring those wheels in prepped you would be looking at $75 a wheel or more.

i actually kind of always wanted to do this to a set of gtz wheels.. outside of my original question any tips on what to use to get the factory finish off easily..something like a da sander..

Prep and proper maintenance is key to a long-lasting nice finish.
If for some reason there was a flaw in the process of either method, it will be much more work (and time) to redo chrome. Powder coat correcting is much easier and matching its color.
