Running E-85?
Anyone have any experience running E-85 on a Quad 4? Will the stock Quad 4 injectors and fuel pump provide enough support?
I understand a tune is crucial thus tuning research in progress.

Anybody have experience swapping in a Walbro 255 fuel pump and what bigger injectors are used for the Quad 4? I agree a retune would be needed.

I'm pretty sure Tyler and Jon both ran the Walbro. I remember some kind of issue with the stock pump bucket, though. Maybe they can chime in.

Walbro ran the bucket dry, as I recall, so Jon tried cutting holes in his I think. Older Berettas don't have the bucket at all though, and I've been running a stock Delco (or I think it is a Delphi actually) H.O. Northstar 4.6L pump on my '90 Turbo 'Retta for a few years -and built my own bucket from a soda-can for pump immersion-cooling. That pump runs dual inlets though, so I've only got half of the flow pulling from the can, and the entire return pumping back into it with holes along the bottom too. No problems (yet). A cheaper OE-type pump simply didn't cut it under boost with the old T-04.
Not sure what you need for injectors -I just remember that the Quads used a peak-to-hold low impedance type different from the pre-2000-something V-6s. There is some pretty good info here: http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tableifc.htm
For my '97 Z-24 Turbo, with the LD9 2.4 Twin Cam that succeeded the Quad, I'm running the stock pump and stock injectors, they've all done just fine for several years running 70+ PSI thanks to an ebay-special AFPR (which I did have to replace the cracked diaphragm in a few years ago). Make SURE your pump can handle E-85 though -supposedly the electrical resistance properties of E-85 is different and can cause issues, and your rubber fuel hoses can be dried-out from the inside out due to the extremely high alcohol percentage of E-85 too. Keep us posted if you start experimenting...

I will update but the first hurdle right now is tuning via OBD1.
OBDII with Hptuners is so easy to learn but this whole chip thing with OBD1 is different. So that first then comes the E85.
Running E85 back when I had my Cobalt SS made a big difference....so I plan to play around with this soon.

Jon and I did both have issues as Woody said above. Jon I believe went back to a stock bucket and it works fine for him, for me I kept running out of fuel even with a modified bucket, so I went with an external walbro and a hydramat in tank so I never have to drop it again..
Also e85 required roughly 28-32% more fuel, so if your pump and injectors can handle that you will be fine, if not upgrade.
Myself I would never bother with E85 on a stockish NA engine. You may see 5-10hp with E85, not worth the hassle.. Boosted applications is where E85 or E47 shines.

I was thinking of using dsm stock 450cc injectors, but have no way of reflashing for them.
