AWD twin turbo beretta

Post by KillerofRice »

My buddy and I are thinking about making a beretta awd with a twin turbo v6 probably 3.1. I'm thinking the drivetrain may be able to be swapped over from the awd pontiac 6000. Those used 2.8 so a 3.1 should bolt right to the tranny. Who thinks I'm crazy .

Sounds like a fun project.  Parts are not that easy to find are they?

Perhaps you could use some of the newer GM AWD parts?

Parts are going to be hard to find if I can even find the awd 6000 for a parts car. What other awd cars does gm have right now?

If you look underneath them you will find they are cars.  Start hacking and welding and bolting.

Yea. I would really hate to mess up such a rare car. Who cares about the aztecs or rendevous. That will eliminate the probably of only having a 3 speed auto. At least I'll get a 4 speed.

the Versatrak AWD system is available on the regular minivans too.  You could also venture into that system that the Equinox/Torrent/Vue have. (it might even be the same)

I thinking about going with the Vue. It roughly only has a 2" longer wheelbase than the beretta. I personally would rather like to stay suv awd b/c I'm thinking it maybe stronger than the minivan systems. The Equinox and Rendezvous have 10" longer wheelbases so I really want to shy away from them if possible.

The only thing that's really going to make a difference with the wheelbase is the length of the driveshaft.  Having a custom length driveshaft made shouldn't be something that would be too hard to get done.

my AWD 6000 is  for sale. it would not  be good  for parts though. i would like to see a  V8 or L67 swapped  into  it, that would be  really cool.

I'm asking $2500 for it.

I'm not going awd. I'm wasting money on trying to fix up the tranny and drivetrain to handle the power. And the tranny is a Honda tranny, surprise surprise. Its junk so i'm going to do a rwd convert instead.
