Low Idle after warm up
My 89 Beretta GT runs great at all speeds - when I come to a stop, it goes to a low idle of 600rpm only after it warms up - no computer warnings - all scensor have been replace, timing change maf sensors everything. but still goes to low idle after warm up, which also causes low oil pressure. does not knock or die. else the car runs great.

600 RPM is fine. It idles higher when it is cold because the computer is in open loop. When it enters closed loop it starts using all the sensors. How low does the oil pressure get? Does the low idle cause any problems? Unless you have an '87/88 engine, your car doesn't have a MAF sensor.

That is if it is an automatic 600 is ok. I think the 5-speeds are 1000.

Thank You for the reply - oil pressure drops to about 25 psi - although there is an oil leak at the cover plate where a distributor would normally be at, which i'm sure is part of the problem - it has never stalled because of it and has always done that since i had it (5years) - it is an 89 GT 2.8 V6 - loves to eat mustang for lunch. Also I dont have a web site - I have a few cool 3D artwork on berettas and a phot of mine which is custom painted.

It doesn't sound like the oil pressure is a problem since that's only at idle. Your oil leak is a very common problem and you'll need to replace the oil pump drive shaft o-ring (a.k.a. distributor plug o-ring). It's very cheap and the GM part number you need is 10477565.
I don't have a website either (ought to by now), just some space from my ISP and an owner's page on BerettaNet. You should sign up for a Photobucket account or something and post pictures of your custom-painted Beretta

Low Idle after warm up
Just wish to thank everyone again - I'm moving to california the end of this month from oklahoma - Me and the beretta are going to use as much of the route 66 road as possible, taking pictures along the way - should be an adventure. My beretta has a custom paint job, mags and dual exhaust with turn downs coming out just before the rear tires and two glass packs for that nice throaty sound - cant think of a better way to take route 66 in an old chevy hot rod - engine is strong tires fair - and all the tools I need in case of something going wrong. Wish me luck!

Hey, awesome, have fun! What part of CA are you moving to, by the way? I'm from the L.A. area originally. Miss it.

I'm heading to Porterville, over by Bakersfield...

Wow, Porterville, yeah. Nice area. Not too terribly far from Lake Isabella or the Kern Canyon either! I was in Bakersfield the first 13 years of my life. Best of luck there, Allen
