change the front cover

I have to change the front cover on a 1996 beretta Z26 any good tips???I have the book and I waiting on this

Mmm, no real tips....It's easier to get at some of the bolts from the front with the header panel/headlights removed.  If the bolts have rust on them, hit them with penetrating oil and let them soak for a while; get off any dirt you can.  If a bolt is too hard to turn you may want to hold its clip in place so you don't break the urethane.  Just general stuff.  Have fun

anyone do this???I was thinking of doing this weekend.I got the GM book for this and it says nothing about the lower intake to remove it.can someone comfirm this please...

You dont need to remove the lower intake manifold.

Remove the alternator, power steering pump and that giant *** engine mount on the passenger side.  Jack up the car and pull the passenger side wheel and inner fender liner (the back one, not the top one that goes all around).  You'll need a pulley puller for the crankshaft pulley after you remove the bolt in the middle.  From there take out all the bolts all the way around.  You dont NEED to remove the oil pan but it makes it easier.  I believe on the 3100's you have to remove the 2 bolts on that end of the oil pan that go straight up into the housing tho.

Everything else is pretty straight forward I do believe.

the kit comes with the oil pan gasket so I guess I'll change it.I have the GM 2 book on this make model year.It says a lot of things to remove to change this part.thanks again

Well, there is still quite a bit to remove.  You also have to remove the lower dogbone and the bracket attached to it.  The lower rad hose, the coolant return line on the front of the engine, etc aswell as the things I listed above.  Its not a small job.  But if you take your time and go one step at a time you will be fine.

I dont think the lower intake has to be pulled to remove the front cover though i do think the pan does..
make shure to tq the bolts so u dont have any leaks down the road..

I have the double GM books,so it says 36 steps to remove. I know it is a long job but I have done worst .do a s10 clutch in the woods.... ÂÂÂ
