i got a 95 z with a stock 3100 looking to do and motor swap to upgrade guy at work told me i could fit a 3800 supercharged motor out of a Grand prix GTP in my car is this true???


New beretta: 1995 Beretta Z26 V6 3.1 SFI
Auto 126K
Still stock engine got a 10 disk changer in the trunk thats about it.

Old beretta:

1989 Beretta GT V6 2.8 MFI HO
5 Speed Manual  106K

It will fit and has already been done.

However it is ALOT of work and unless you are very mechanically inclined, have access to myriad tools and equipment forget it.

In fact the one person (ROLNGTZ) on Berettstuff that actually has one installed and running insists he wouldn't do it again!

Better to look for a good 3400. That's the easy swap and been done dozens of times.

Amen to that.  3400 is about a thousand times easier.  Its basically a direct swap into your 3100 equipped Z26.  And they are plentiful engines.

Check out www.3400swap.com for more information.  Not all of it applies to Berettas, but its a good general idea.

will a 3100 trans bolt up to a 3400 or do i need a new tranny??? and also what else will i have to replace if i swap?

it will bolt up.  There really isnt much you need to replace.  there are many places to find the information, run a search.  Also look at 3400swap.com.

The 3800sc swap is a bit of a long process. The 3400 swap can be done in a weekend. Go with the 3400. You will be more then satisfied with it.
