fuel pump
ok, I really would like to know whats causing my fuel pumps to go so constantly on my Z26. this will be my third fuel pump in a matter of 6 months. . . .also the fuel filter every time. I dont understand!!! ANd I also dont let the fuel gauge any lower than a 1/4 a tank. I had them installed professionally! Any ideas? I cant figure it out. my mechanic said maybe something electrical? But see, everytime the fuel pump goes out, I can still hear it kick on, but car just dont start.

probably dirt in the tank, try replacing just the fuel filter every 2 months, if the fuel pump comes on but doesn't start the car, chances are the filter is clogged
try it, just a bolt and a plastic clip to replace the fuel filter

Have you tried filling up at different gas stations? That's strange that your fuel pump still kicks on but your car won't start. Mine have always died completely when they've gone out. Have you ever had your mechanic do a fuel system pressure test? Have you tried replacing the fuel filter when the car won't start but the pump still kicks on? It just sounds like something may be causing your pump to work too hard.

if the pump dies and you can still hear it, it means thatits not dead. Something else is preventing that car from running. Were the previous two pumps like this too, or were they unaudible with the key initially forward?
yeah, somethings fishy!

fuel pump
We have that problem sometimes at work on semis and we find that dirt and stuff get into the system and do some damage. I would drain that fuel tank and even run some fuel through it. Also you can have your fuel pump kick on but it might not have enough PSI for the injectors. check Fuel pressure on the fuel rail. Also check for Fuel leaks, that could make your fuel pump hard to keep up to its default PSI. I hope you dont have to pay for a new fuel pump everytime it goes out. Should be under warrenty.
Good luck
