what else could be wrong

THIS is on my 1989 2.8 beretta gt. I have replaced the fuel filter,tps,maf,crank sensor,egr,o2 sensor,iac,coils and icm,plugs and wirers,unpluged the tcc,which has been done over a period of 4 months,now this is what is going on now,it starts fine i go down the road and when i come up to a stop sign the idol drops out and it stalls, also happens at a very slow cruse.But will run down the hy way 65-70 no problem,today I went over it with a fine tooth comb, checked for vacum leaks, broke wires,lose wires on alt.starter,checked all grounds.made sure battery cables good and tight.did the idol relearn,O also the engine light will come on,but goes out when im running down the hy way. Any how took her for a spin,The same darn thing stalls at the stop signs, got home after only 20 min. run. for some reason I thought to look at the catalytic converter after i shut the lights off in the garage. it had a stripe of a red(in the center of it) glow around it could this be my probem? the cat is shot? Please some one tell me some thing . I would be so gratefull. thank thank you much

Could be the cat is cooked, but it also could be unburnt fuel being dumped into it killing the cat. No codes? Test the ECT to make sure it's good.

If you dont know how to check codes go to auto zone, I know they check my car for free in des moines. I have never seen a strip down my cat but you need one to see that. I guess if the cat was shot it could kill the car at low idle due to clogged cat. But at higher RPMS you could still get enough exhaust out.

same thing was happening to my '94 base and it turned out to be the EGR valve. after i replaced it it went ok for about 3 months before the car started shooting out EGR codes again. and my engine light goes on and off when ever i get up to highway speed. maybe check the EGR again. can try the throttle positioning sensor too...

ok heres what I did I took out the o2 sensor, and went for a little ride nice and eazy,only about 5-8 min. worth. It did not stall out at every stop sign like before.when I pulled into the garage it actted up alittle and the engine light came on but did not die.also had already replaced the throttle positioing sensor.Im headed back out to take the cat off,and to take off the egr and maybe just cleaning it good will help??? also was wondering where the heck is the ect at and what does it look like?yes iam a female lol . you guys are great here thank you

well, i think thats my problem is i need to clean out all the carbon gunk around my EGR valve. like in the pelenum and like the TB and stuff. not sure if this would help or not but after looking around on this site thats the conclusion i came to as to what i need to do.

well what the heck,I took off the egr cleaned the heck out of it,put it back on,took it down the road same thing stalls at the stop signs,took it home pulled off the iac and made sure it was 11/8 from base where it bolts on to the tip put that back on and it still stalls at the stop signs!!going to go out in abit to clean the throttle body but will wait to see if any one as something else for me to ****. while Im out there.enigine light comes on when its sitn there idoln and then stalls, thought Id throw that in there.light will go out when I bring the idol up.but i have had it come on going down the road before.the cruise works fine. thank you again.

I got as far as getn the exshaust off up to the cat ,How the heck you get that off?But it seems to be blown air out good and is intack in side from what I can see it is really white and coned inside dont look broke up at all took it down the road like that and it still stalled at the stop sign.did make it sound like a big cam in it lol.but no cannt get the cat off and I still have the stalln.Now what I sure need that car!!!

You really need the get your car fault codes. That should be the first thing. get to an autozone and see why it throws a code and then it shuts down. That should tell you something.

O my god!!!! So happy She is running and idleing and stopn at stop signs With out stalln. Heres what I did I totally took the throttle body apart and cleaned and cleaned with carb cleaner just like you said.put it back togeather and she just sits there and purrrrrs.soooooo smooth.also cleaned the egrtook it off to do that also wanted to do it right the 1st time ya know.The ses dont even come on now!!!Thank you Thank you so much for all input on this Iam sooooo greatfull.Will be taked it for along test tomorrow as I only drove it tonight around town and out 5 miles out. but I hit every stop sign in town just to see,With NO stalls Yeah I like this I like it alot again thank you!!!!

O almost for got I took the IAC off and made darn sure it was set where is was supose to be which it wasnt when i took it off.what I did was when I had it all apart I turned it till it set right into where it would just touch not hard just there. Thanks again

ok now im back to stalling at the stop signs.I did do the paper clip thing to read my codes it always showed a 12, which is ok right ? Well so tonight Im under it again trying to figure out why it is doing this to me ,so while it was running I unpluged the map on the fire wall,did I do something wrong as now its throwing a 33 which is map sensor singal high. what am I do do with that?
