GTZ project updates
It looks to me like the bores are in pretty good condition. I would probably leave it alone until it needs it.

GTZ project updates
The engine is now getting full rebuild. (i knew this is getting out of hands)
The block will be honed, and... i can just say that something snapped in my
head and theres Shitloads of new parts on the way right now
I'm in trouble soon...
Taking this one down to the bones...
Bye bye old parts...
Now i have to Wait.. And Wait some more. Takes over month for biggest shipments to get here.
Looking quite bad if i really want to drive this thing in 2007.. Especially cause i'm out of the country for 3+ weeks in the best summer time.

I love how stuff looks after sandblasting. Looks nice and new, all grease, tar, paint, weathering gone. Too bad it rusts if its steel. I think that would be cool if one of the car building shows did a car sandblasted and then cleared over it.

New front mount
Made from the parts laying around, price 0.00€.
Parts list from top to down:
- Long bolt
- Big stainless washer
- Round rubber with bolt hole drilled
- Stock Mount arm
- Neopren rubber for getting the right height
- Big and strong rubber thing with aluminum tops
- Stainless [] Pipe cutted for right size
- Stock engine mount nut (inside the pipe)
- 2 other nuts inside the pipe to mount it to the subframe
This one is really tight. doesnt allow movement but isolates the engine
from the unibody (no metal against metal) so it keeps the noice down.

Most red engine block you can find, after 2 cans of VHT and engine clear coat,
this thing SHINES!
I hope the paint stays there...
I let the paint dry couple days more, then the block is getting a hone.
And some other parts are going to engine machinery too..

Looks nice. Kinda funny that you painted an Olds block a Chevy color.

GTZ project updates
Hey Alex, there has been some discussion about european Beretta owners meet in summer 2008 in germany\etc.
I can't come this year cause if the bfest trip
While waiting for the new parts and old parts in machinery,
i decided to port the exhaust manifold, since there was no real aftermarket options yet. This is kinda first aid for now.
The collector:
STOCK. I measured the hole to 52mm (2.04") size.
PORTED + Polished. Now it's 59mm (2.32")! The divider between the ports was allso shortened & sharpened.
Still mutch smaller than my 76mm (3") downpipe and exhaust but there's no meat to make this bigger.
STOCK exhaust port. You can see the marks from gasket.
GASKET MATCHED, with cone shape.
A lot better than it was before. Still this is the weakest flowing thing on my Quad, but atleast not as bad than before.
Going to replace it later with a real header, but this will help atleast a bit before that.
Oh, and costed? 0,00€ cause my father did it, he has LOTS of experience from metal working,
but this was the first car part he touched...
(2008/6 edit: Later i got the real header so this was only used like 2 hours)

And old vs new.
I got it from EP, this one has special gearings;
1st- 3.77:1, 2nd- 2.19:1, 3rd-t 1.38:1, 4th- 1.03:1, 5th- .80:1, Final Drive- 3.94:1
Since it's going to my 90 GTZ, there are some differences i need to get around to make it work
- No holes for side mount
- Oil filler hole in diffrent spot
- Need to swap over the bellhousing and slave cyl setup over
... actually i might just swap the new internals to the older case.
Oh, and this beast allready have some friends waiting:
- Team Green LSD insert
- Modified gear linkage
- McMaster Bushings
- Rodney Dickman FWD shifter rebuild kit
- Mofidied Sunbird shiftarm
- Hurst T-handle
- Redline MTL
Those should mate pretty good, can't wait to get this on the road.
Block got back from machinery:
- Honed
- Shaved to clean
- Some paint chips at edges now, i may have to fix em
Allso the head
- Shaved 0.2mm to get it straight.
- Pressure tested [ok]
- Vacuum tested valves [ok]
And the rotating assembly.
- Bearing faces polished
- Balanced to 0.5g
Now where are my other parts? *waiting*...

I would've thought of all places you should be able to find that transmission over there. The strange mounting is because it's supposed to fit a Pontiac Trans Sport with the Quad4.
