doors wont close?

doors wont close?
my little brother was cleaning out his 1995 beretta and now the doors wont close. it looks like the latches in the door, which i guess are the locks, are stuck up and wont open up to let the door close all the way. can anyone help with this? should we just force them down? it's very strange.

IIRC, you need to push down on the latch... you might have to use the door handle to open it while you're pushing.
