i'm confused with chips/mods available.
what is the best cost effective way to up the horspower of the 2.8?

Need advice on low cost power increase
Swap a 3400. Cheapest HP for the dollar without N2O.
Other mods can be done, but gains are minimal compared to a 3400 and costs can get expensive. The chips are usually not effective, but will remove the top speed limiter and some raise the RPM cutoff, but on a V-6 this usually is not necessary unless you do major work to the engine.
