It was a good time, despite all the bad things that happened.  I'll probably have pics up later in the week.

Paul Keller's GTU developed rod knock.

Chad's charging system wasn't working right, wiring was toast.

Cliff destroyed a CV axle in the parking lot (axle #5 or #6 Cliffy?   )

Pat had to replace the melted inner tierod bushings (he needs the heatshield from the 2.4 TC cars).

But worst of all, the car that won Best of Berettafest ended up getting trashed pretty good about an hour later after he got the award... I don't think he's on the boards, but his name is Brad; he's from PA.

The car was a 92 HO Quad GTZ, Quasar Blue w/ Blue interior, that had been in the family since new... special ordered, and never saw a dealer lot apparently... Brad's Uncle/Grandpa JUST finished putting a fresh coat of paint on the car in time for BFest this year (the paint had less than 1000 miles on it).

From my understanding, the car in front of him was intending on doing a U turn, and shifted to the right to give himself enough room to turn 180.... Brad went to pass him, and when he saw the car doing the U turn start to turn towards him, he veered off the road, almost saved it, and ended up smashing the rear quarter panel behind the drivers door, pushing it in about a foot or so. Bent wheel, bent rear axle, bent shock, blown out 1/4 panel glass, door damaged a bit...

It's going to take a bit of work to get it back into shape, but I hope he decides to go through with it... the car was gorgeous!

Yea, I'd say it was a pretty eventful trip.

In regards to Brad and Wendell, I heard from them at 8:30 am on sunday morning to let me know that they had made it home.  They went through all of the spares that we gave them, with one blowing and the other 4 corded (each tire lasted 100-120 miles).  I would like to give a serious round of applause to all of you who donated your spares to them.  It was this gracious showing that truly defines our group of people at its core.  Thanks to all of you, they were able to limp the GTZ home.  I know we are all hoping the car makes a full recovery.

From the point of the event overall, I feel we had a great turnout, and everyone enjoyed the weekend.  The Heritage Center was quite the treat, and believe it or not they actually had one of the GTU race cars there!

Friday was pretty open until drag racing, with some people just hanging out at the hotel and others enjoying things such as the Ford Rouge Tour.  Drag racing was a blast, but there are never enough runs     Personal thanks to Brad and Cliff for letting me drive their cars, however not faster than they did...

On saturday the car show was another huge success, with many cars to choose from in their catagories.  A tie breaker had to be enforced to call the Best of BerettaFest, between Brad Zechman's Quazar GTZ and Geoff Morrow's Cayenne Z26.  This tie break actually caused another tie for Best Stock Interior 91-96 between my wife's '95 Raspberry Z26, and Devon Whitman's '94 BRM Quad 4 Z26.  I will post all of the results of the car show awards and all the other awards later on today after I unpack the car....

Overall I think Bfest Detroit was a great event, and unofficially the best turnout we've had since '03 in Milwaukee.  I would like to thank everyone for coming, and I truly hope that you all return next year!

Oh, and i think you might've missed the part where we JUST put a new coil cover on that GTZ because it was having a miss...

Oh, and for that CV shaft failure.  It was a very strange way for it to go.  The clip (#3) slid out of it's groove and down the shaft, allowing the tri-pot joint (#10) to slide out of the tulip housing (#9)

I didn't hear about the coil cover, but I saw pictures earlier today; I wasn't sure if those were his or Pat's.

That's an interesting way for a CV failure... I know for a fact you didn't rev it THAT high to explode one of those... I was standing right next to your car!

I still laugh when I think about Scott jumping and screaming like a little girl when it blew though

Now that I think about it, you're right... I remember seeing V6 coils on the driver side of the engine bay.

You did so much to that car, it's hard to keep track of what you did exactly!

Yea coil packs are just kind of scratching the surface on that thing......     It has two wiring harnesses for the engine.  If you HAD to you could swap to factory injectors, bypass the turbo on the intake side and swap wiring harnesses and drive home on the factory ECM.  I've never done it, but it IS possible.

Bstuff has lots of pics links posted.

Nitro if you are talking about my old car....  The POS JVC deck and generic amp were in the car when I purchased it.  I never cared what radio was in that car.  I listened to music everywhere I went, but it rarely came from speakers.

No, he's referring to the aftermarket radio not counting against a "stock interior" classification.  Just causing more DRAMA!
