'95 Z26 - should i buy it?
'95 Z26 - should i buy it?
Hey all,
I guess this is a two part question because the car doesn't run, and because of that I really don't know if I should buy it.
What it is... a '95 Z26 3100, color plum.
Pro's
Good body and paint
108K
Owner wants $100
title and current reg
New battery
Con's
Needs interior
turns over but does not run
Some of you guys know I own an '89 GTU
so I'm familiar with these cars but here it
is... the owner ran the car at least a quart
low due to a leak and cooling system less
then half full due to another leak at the
radiator. I know I know fn idiot right?
when turning over, the engine wants to
start but dies quickly. I have not bought
the car but did change oil/filter and fuel
filter, checked the front plugs and on a
hunch swapped out a coil pack.
Brought the TB home and cleaned it -
worst I have ever seen. Will install
tomorrow. Personally I believe the
engine is absolutely whipped due to
a horrible knock when turning over.
Still I love these cars and want to
restore this car's dignity so whatdaya
think? Post please, thx!
*** will try and do a compression check
tomorrow if time permits otherwise I
need to make a decision quick

It could've snapped the camshaft. That isn't unheard of on the 3100 and 3400.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for a 3400 swap.

in looking for a donor car
I ran across a '96 MC z34
125k but engine smokes
if valves, yea that's doable
but not rings right now.
neway just wondering what
you guys think. Painless swap
here? or avoid the '96 MC
cars?

you need a 3400, not a 3.4. The 3.4 is a DOHC and for most arguements does not fit.
