trans. question
Let me start by introducing myself my name is brandon I live in southwest michigan and recently fell in love with berettas. Well as the title says I was wondering if a 4 speed transmission would work in my 92 gt I love the car but do 75+ miles a day of highway driving at roughly 75 and the gas milage kinda sucks. I have a weird grind in reverse so I figured it was time to be replaced so I guess what I was wondering is if the 4 speed would work instead of the 3 speed ? Thanks

NO!
Unless you want to upgrade the car to OBD 1.5 or OBD 2
The 4t60e is computer controlled, and you just don't plain have the computer to do it.
Not worth it.

I don't know how similar it is, but you might be able to use a regular 4T60 (aka: TH440T4)

What was the 4-speed they put in the earlier Luminas ('90 or so)? There used to be a guy around here named Jonathan who installed one of those. It was a pain to install, but it worked fine.

trans. question
I got a 1992 GT & I thought it was a 4speed auto. 1-2-3-OD. I know if it is the reverse just go forward. I bet that tranny needs some oil changing frist, then if it drives forward good I say just drive it. This is what I been doing, just don't park face down a hill, or you're screwed. I know I like going forward not backwards

You should have the 3t40 with TCC lock up. I think 1994 was the first year of the 4t60 style trans for the beretta's.
