i have a 1995 beretta 2.2 liter,5 speed tras.,with 240,000 k.how do i check for a blowen head gasket.my oil went up and it is very black.the heat guage went on to hot.but still starts ok.could this also be the intake gasket?thanks

Sounds like a head gasket. They are famous for them.
It's not that hard a fix on that engine actually. Just get a remanufactured head, or have yours checked then rebuilt.
Do a compression check if you can, or have it done. That will tell you. Shouldn't cost much to check.

Yea , like Asylum said. A surefire way to tell if your head/head gasket is bad is if your oil levels go up and your coolant levels go down. Also, look for milky residue in the oil. Sounds like a head/headgasket to me as well. GL.
