3500 plenum upgrade.

Post by IsaacHayes »

Originally I wanted to do something with the beretta font which is similar to the corvette font. I was going to do that on a 3400 plenum if I ever swapped engines.

But the 3500 plenum didn't have a good spot for something like that, but the spaces between the bolt on the front were perfect for the bowtie and chevrolet.

If a 3.1mpfi valve cover was able to fit and the coolant pipe wasn't in the way that gives a great flat surface for putting text on there.

I like this picture too for some reason.

What did you have to do to make the cable controlled TB bolt on?
I just found one of these today at the JY, const me $14! actually a whole 2006 malibu was there. I'm curious if the 3500 heads will bolt on too...
oh, and i gave up on the 3800sc thing. too heavy, too much work for the gains, and I have a thing for the 60* engines.
your project looks awesome! I'm so looking forward to mine going on!

For the TB, I used a 3100/3400 TB, a custom cut gasket, and the adapter here:
http://wot-tech.com/shop/3400/3500-plen ... od_30.html

3500 heads will bolt on to a 3400 block (3100 is too small of a bore) and you'll need the 3500 lower intake to work with the 3500 heads.

$14 is a steal. Your junkyard sounds cool. Mine has nothing interesting and they charge you an arm and leg for anything.

You can't bolt it on your car unless you have a 3400 or a large port 3100 (2000+) or swapped on the large port manifolds to an older 3100...

I know most of the ins and outs of the hybrid motors, but I don't know too much about the 3500s. the 3100 bore is too small and the valves hit the piston? if it's a different issue than that I can get them for $20 each, and another $14 for the LIM.
also, will the 3500's cam give any gains to a 3100?
that TB adapter looks like a nice Item, it's a decent price too!

The combustion chamber on the heads is bigger than the bore of the block.

If you can get the heads and LIM for $54 that's worth doing even if you can't use them right now!! LOL Ship them to me! hahaha

3100,3400 and 3500 cam are all the same.

That looks awesome! wow, how long did that take!?
I got my 3500 heads and LIM, I was wrong on the price, it cost me $133, but I get about $20 back in cores so it aint too bad.   Junkyards are sweet.
