Installing factory cruise on non-cruise equip. car

Just wondering if someone has already looked into this. I currently have a '96 base auto. It doesn't have any extra options except auto and pwr locks(annoying combo) and I bought it knowing this (the options, not the annoyance). I've been checking out the GM shop manuals for the wiring diagrams to see if there's any info on if there were separate wiring looms made for vehicles with different options. There doesn't seem to be any info. SO what I was wondering if the wiring and connectors are still in a vehicle without the installed options. For example. This car only has the turnsignal stalk. Now can a cruise control/turnsignal stalk be installed and plugged in? Same thing for the module, cruise brake switch, and throttle. Basically PnP. Thanks.

I believe the cruise is vaccum controlled so a factory system is a PITA to install if I remember correctly. Buying something aftermarket its a much easier road to go.

Nope, '96 is not vacuum. It should be able to be done fairly easily...

my 95 wasnt vacuum either it was seperate from the engine harness. the plug for the cruise came through the firewall right below the brake master, where it goes beyond that i dont know.

i think 94 was the only year of the 3100 to get the vacuum style

cruise is part of the dash harness.   95-96 use the same cruise.

If you get the dash harness from a 95-96 car with digital cruise, get the cruise box from the engine bay, and get the turn signal stalk (and probably the steering column, unless you feel like wiring the whole thing up half-assed), then you should be able to have factory cruise.

So basically what I'm understanding is that the plugs/connectors are not there unless I transfer a complete dash panel wiring harness from a donor car with all the modules, switches and cables? And that this is the only way to have factory cruise? Am I correct?
