96 Beretta Z26..

Post by Picolini »

So if you guys saw my thread about my car or about the wheels (in there respective sections), I was planning on getting a base 93 Beretta. Called the seller, it's sold.

So, looking around for another car I ran into a 96 Beretta Z26. It's listed by a dealer at $1,950. Here's what it says on it.

QUOTEFeatures: ABS, Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Bucket Seating, AM/FM Radio, Cruise Control, **Low Mileage**, Power Locks, Power Steering, Power Windows, Rear Window Defroster, Tilt Wheel

Standard Equipment: Air Conditioning, 15 inch Rim Size, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Driver front air bag, 4 speed automatic with electronic Transmission, AM/FM Cassette, 191 Cubic Inch Displacement, Daytime Running Lights, Front Wheel Drive, 4 wheel standard Anti-lock Brakes, 6 Cylinders

Looks like it's pretty damn good, and it's only got 87,562 miles. It's white with a blue interior, the 3.1L V6 of course, and the 4 speed auto.
This is quite an improvement over my 92 Beretta GT, as it's got one more gear, 15 more hp, and 5 more tq (as far as I remember).

Sadly there's no picture, but the dealership is only 20 minutes away, so I will definitely go look at it. If it's in good body shape (maybe small rust spots and some tiny dents/scratches here and there) I'll most likely get it and try to talk the guy down a bit.

Do you guys think $1,950 is a good deal? I personally do, especially looking at the mileage.

Also, is there any improvement with the suspension on the Z26 compared to a 92 GT? The GT felt a bit heavy and had it's share of body roll, I'd like for the Z26 to be somewhat stiffer.

hell yea, the suspension is different, in your case it could be the same, but i know when i went from my 92gtz to the 95 z26 i almost cried, the gtz you could fly into turns with, the z26 just didnt have it, i paid 2,700 for my black 95 z26 with 82k on the odometer just a year ago, i think 2k for something with less then 90k is a dam good deal, what year is it, if its a 96 your really in luck, well, not so much so now that dhp when out, but your still in luck.
the z26 is on the road!

I say go for it, less then 2 grand for only 87,000 miles is a steal. KYB I just checked for that car in good condition buying price is $2740. I saw that they had 15" wheels listed the Z26 should have 16" alloy wheels.
I am on my 2nd Z26 and I love the Z26 suspension how they handle compared to a base model or a GT. But the Indy with the FE7 suspension handled nicer.

if it has 15" wheels or even if it doesnt check the spare tire cover for the code FE3, if it doesnt have that its FE2 which is one step up from grandma FE1.
