No Schrader Valve

Post by ccf111 »

Hi All,

Currently I'm trying figure out how exactly to check each individual component of the fuel system (for a '95 2.2 Beretta). Every now and then it will die after starting up. But after starting again, or after a couple times, it will stay running. Could be leaking injectors or pump...wish I had the test port on the rail. I put another regulator on (used) and it would start a lot better (for that day only), but the chugging while trying to accelerate continutes.

My question to anyone who may help is, how do you do the various pressure tests when you don't have the port to conveniently connect to. I've looked around on the net and yet to find a straight answer. Figured I better ask directly on a message forum. I did see someone talking about a device which goes in place of the fuel filter, and then about a t-fitting-just no concrete, exact how-to's.

Some trouble is getting someone who has a 2.2 package to look at for you.  Your "T" fitting is a good idea, we just wish it were easier.  I don't think it has a valve either.

Now, TBI on that 2.2? ...one injector ;  pressure is like 4-9lbs if I remember correctly.

You sound like youre on the right track.  fuel inj. cleaner if the car still drives, or if its too bad, manually test that injector after removal.

then I'd check the pump.

and confirm, no engine codes.

If you had a leaking injector you would have dieseling problems as well. is your car an SFI, or TBI?  I know that I've run into chugging on acceleration and have found intake leaks, fixed them and it went away.
another thought is an Idle air control valve, the part could be at fault or the computer may need to relearn the idle. I think that you can relearn by starting the car and letting it Idle in drive range for ten minutes with the wheels blocked then shutting it off for ten minutes.
I know that there is a procedure, try searching it.
