I dont think that's his indy...

But overall nice setup so far... What if anything is done to the motor?

I'm curious.

This is what my bay currently looks like.

Its a little dirty...

nice! way more upgrades then mine i see cruise control, mass air flow sensor could that be obd2 swap? and pimped billet strut mount block off thingy's with matching oil cap and polished 3100 letters sweet! ohh and your coolant resevoir is clear! mine has a faded black top which i thought about clear coating to get it back to looking good but ehhh screw it

hmmm you say dirty but it looks clean how long have you drove on it since your swap? and have you cleaned it yet? just curious to find out if my swap will stay looking good or after a month start looking like a nasty crap stock car again.

havent driven that car like any... Its only been on the street about 8 times, and only in nice weather so far... never driven raining.  Hasn't been cleaned after the swap either...

There is way more in that motor that visible  ;)  BUT this is a 1996 beretta so it is OBDII factory, came with cruise, and the 96 coolant tanks are that color stock.

Major visual upgrades in that bay would be the strut caps, the chrome oil fill cap, painted strut bar, the optima red top, and the CAI.

Now performance is
3400 bottom end, 3500 heads, 3 angle valve job, gasket matched to 3500 lower intake, ported 3100 large bore upper intake, gasket matched to 3500 lower intake, 65mm TCE throttle body, 3100 plenum gasket matched to TB, 180* thermo, 1994 cam chain and sprocket, WOT-TECH custom ground cam, custom length pushrods, comp cam springs, S&S Modified headers w/ 2 1/2 full exhaust.  UDP option too, I don't know if I'm gonna run it or not, it may lead to premature cam chain stretch.

dayum! i didnt even realize the headers lol so how does all of this run compared to a regular 3400? sounds like some mean as5 5hit!

so did they fix the lower intake manifold leak problem on the 3500 set up? if so i'll sell this beretta and buy another and swap in one of those or maybe a 3900? the thing is this 3400 swap is so popular now and at the time i bought the 3400 i wasnt aware about the 3500 and 3900.  kinda sucks now im ready to give up on this car and start another cuz this 3400 engine was clean when i half way tore it down so theres really no sense in changing anything on it since everythings basicaly new.

so these 96 beretta's come obd2 ready for plug and play ECU's?

Not really plug and play ecu's you need to have a DHP powrtuner to program either the 96 beretta ecm, or you can use a 97 venture ecm for a few more tables.  Thats the only ecm that drops in.

This motor is no where near comparable to a stock 3400 swapped beretta... Also as noted its not a full 3500 motor, and a 3900 swap would be too much of a headache.  This is a toy drag racing around town car, not a daily due to the cam profile.

As far as the LIMG, they are still plastic but have metal inserts around the bolt holes to hopefully prevent crushing of the gasket, but that doesn't solve the problem of the plastic just breaking down.

And why scrap a whole car to start a new swap???  Just work with what you have.  Drive it as is and accumulate 3500 parts then do a top end swap sometime.  Also there is a OBD1.5 to OBDII swap kit being sold on here or on bstuff... You can use this to make your 95 OBDII... I did it to mine... I was actually the first to use and come up with this conversion kit... there were other OBDII conversions but they did all the wiring harnesses in the car, I made it so all you have to swap is the engine bay harness.

hmmm very interesting but this car will be used for daily driving so i cant get to crazy on mods thats why i'd rather have a faster stock engine set up. i wish i knew about the 3500 swap when i was buying the 3400 lol i would've done that and swapped obd2 from the get go. now i have about $100 in red loom just on the engine bay harness believe it or not thats whats making this obd2 conversion difficult lol I MESSED UP! anyone wanna buy an expensive red loomed obd1.5 harness? i didnt think so.

but another problem i have with modding one of these engines is the gasket leak issue.  how can i dump money into a powerplant with poor design issues?  its a damn shame these engines have this problem. its like why spend thousands on something you know deep down is gonna fail or has a weak link that nothing can be done about? i just replaced my gaskets with the newer version but still i heard some go 80,000 miles without a leak some dont even make it out of the shop without a leak. i swear problems like these are what keep me from buying american cars i rather have the bigger engine but if these smaller hondas with better gas mileage quicker acceleration and most importantly reliability are better then why change? im not hating or dissing i know all cars can fail at any time but when its built to fail how can i go about it know what i mean? i like the laretta and i like muscle but for a car thats on the road daily i can always trust my civic. im scared to drive this beretta to vegas to tell you the truth not just cuz im not sure if the clear coolant hoses are going to hold up lol but because im just afraid of being stranded in a place with no water or anything for 100 miles each way. i know the whole way i'll be keeping my eye on that temp gauge afraid of this coolant leak. when i should be enjoying myself vtec/n around a mountain we'll see how things go maybe this laretta will change my mind about things im hoping so.
