Electrical Problem...
First off, the car is a 1994 Beretta Base with a 2.2L engine.
Now to the fun part. I was installing a remote start/keyless entry into the 'retta. Everything was going okay until I got to tapping into the ignition wires (Pink, Yellow, Redx2) I was doing fine with the install and I was onto tapping into the constant 12v wire. Well, as I was stripping it (applying minimal force) it ripped out of the connector above the steering column, hit a grounded bolt, and I heard a big poof, followed by an aweful smell.
I was disconnecting/reconnecting the battery after each wire tap, just to make sure all of my systems were working well, but I got impatient when I got to that last 12v constant, and did not d/c the battery.
My dash does not work, my radio has no power, the power locks are out, and the only thing that works is the headlights, oddly enough. I have already checked the fuse box, and none of the fuses are blown. When I turn the key I get the standard 'ding', but when I go to crank it over... nothing.
I am hoping someone here has some knowledge of electrical systems and can help me locate my problem, as that is the main car I use for work.
I am posting this on both Beretta.net and Bstuff in hopes that someone can help me.
Thanks in advanced,
-Haskin

Electrical Problem...
Thanks a ton guys. It was the 16 gauge fusible link coming off of the starter that was the culprit. I also fried a relay under the hood on the passenger's side. 35$ later she was running as if nothing ever happened. An hour later the alarm/keyless entry/remote start system was installed. I have learned my lesson. Even if I am getting anxious, I will always disconnect the battery while working with the wires.
Again, thanks for all the help
