3400 MAP
I'm going to do a 3400 top end swap on my 3100. I just want to know if the 3400 MAP is the same as the 3100. It's late and I may be having crazy thoughts, but I was thinking that the 3400 MAP is set up to read the vacuum from the 3400 intake and it could be better than my 3100 MAP for the swap. I will not be able to tune, so I'm looking for some way to help the computer get the right info from this swap.
I have a scaner and could test to see if there are any changes in what the computer reads from it later on. To save time and money I'd like to know before hand if possible.
Well, the bore is not the same, so the 3100 MAP may be the best. As you can see I'm kind of unsure on what to do.

Re: 3400 MAP
MAP just reads vacuum, they are not calibrated for the bore or anything... Now if you were talking about a MAF, say you had a 96 that used a MAF, and wanted to put on a MAF from say an LS1 or something, then yes that would be different and not read right. As those are scaled with the flow the support to the frequency they output.
But a MAP is a simple analog output device. Only time they are different is if the engine has boost...

In a way I'm lucky, I have a 95 so I don't have to think about the MAF. I thought the MAP was the same, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info guys!

Re: 3400 MAP
Maf's are so nice to have
they make tuning easy. I am still running the stock maf so its not a restriction on a n/a car, they work just fine.
