which struts should I put on?
which struts should I put on?
Just bought a 96 GTZ with 85K miles. The LF strut is leaking and the whole car rides horrible. This will be a daily driver nothing special. I am looking at ACDelco from rockauto for $77 each, Monroe Reflex which I can get for $67 at Advanced Auto and then a rebate. Actually, I can get the set of Monroe Reflex Shocks & struts after rebate for under $180. I can easily install these and get it aligned at my buddies shop. Anyone have negative issues with the Reflex struts?
the KYBs are a little pricy IMHO for a daily driver.

I think that the AC Delco's will have a better ride. I have Monroe Plus shocks/struts and they ride a bit more ruff than stock. I don't know much about the Reflex, but they are said to be like stock ones(but they are not the same). I also have GR2's on my 04 Cav and they ride like a truck with Eibach springs. But the Cav is a light weight car.

KYB is meant to be paired with a lowering spring, they are a tighter valved strut so yes they ride rougher, and that's typical with any lowered car... loose travel you need to stiffen it up.

Don't forget strut mounts. Those will be needing replacing I'm sure too.
And any swaybar bushings while you are there that need it, control arm bushings (check the rear vertical bushings)
