Re: Not a Beretta, but a Beretta engine... Kind of... '93 SCX

It's just the clearances aren't what they were in the oil pump. I'm replacing the pump itself in a week or two. New vids below.

Ok, so sorry for the delay. Took all day and night to upload the vids. My ISP was being ghey.....

Then You Tube went ghey on me too... I overlaid a song on the Interstate vid, and it pulled copyright on me AFTER upload and killed all audio. Bastards... So I used PB for the interstate vid. :D

Anyhow, first vid is cold start, idle, OP and second is interstate pull to 90mph+. Enjoy, and comment.

Whoops , my bad. Good catch Jon. Fixed.

Btw, ignore the check oil light. Sensor is no good. Light comes and goes. Oil level is fine, trust me.

So, I go out yesterday to make sure I have the correct tire size for the SCX, the S , and the GT-T off their respective door stickers and what do I see? Not good, radiator has a hairline crack in the driver's tank! Temp fix with water weld, but now IT needs replaced too! Seems like one step forward ,two steps back with this car! Grrrr.... Anyhow, cleaned up the interior day before yesterday. MUCH better. I need a dash as this one has come up in the usual place by the windshield and then "shrunk" back far enough it can't be glued back in place. Only about 3/4 of an inch dang it! Anyhooo, pics:

WOOHOO! Late night internet searches ftw! I love it! I found my complete set of CCR shocks/struts for $232.06 FREE shipping! Monroe, I love you! Gonna be ordering those bad boys for sure and installing. Not too many SCX's I've ever heard of with a complete working electronic suspension but mine will be ONE! :D

You must not read the footnotes... Those are just regular shocks and struts...

Wrong ^^ I DID read the footnotes. That's why it took me all night to find the bastards. THEY ARE CCR AND ARE FOR ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION. I figured someone would try to say I was wrong or full of it, so here are SS's from the site. Yes, I whited out the website name as I don't know how many sets they have in stock (at least one full set) and I don't want someone to snatch these up. AFTER I purchase my set I will happily make the link available. I will probably buy 2 full sets, so I have a spare set , as these are already DAMN NEAR impossible to find! I also found brand new shift cables for my SCX. Albeit at $160 apiece, but hey, if you want 'em , you want 'em.....

But thx for assuming you were right and I had no idea how to look up parts......

Oh, and if you're wondering why my final bill is lower than those parts add up to, I was using a $15 discount code. However I'll be using a $25 discount code as I'm also going to order a Nissen radiator from them, which puts my total high enough for a better discount. :D

f:66 Procedure for replacing Electronically Adjustable Suspension with non-adjustable product See Appendix A

Hell I found those part numbers in about 45 seconds in Monroes on-line catalogue and they ARE NOT ELECTRONIC, simply replacement parts!!

:(

BTW, Rock Auto has all those part numbers in stock.

Struts are $57.79 (Monroe 71921/22)
Shocks are $26.79 (Monroe 5896)

Hmm.... I'm not convinced. I'll have to call Monroe tomorrow and see because the website (as you can see in my screenshots) CLEARLY STATES these are replacements WITH CCR , not for replacing the CCR with standard struts....... I need to get this cleared up.

What I'm seeing in your pic Cliff is that if you want to replace the struts Monroe provides for CCR with standard struts instead they will show you how..... Not seeing where it says those parts #'s are NOT CCR?

Thats a typical Appendix listing, they list the part numbers, and then they list an installation procedure that is necessary to install those parts... and for this its how to replace the CCR struts with standard ones.

Its like trying to buy FE3 struts from Monroe... They don't exist... Any and All Z26's that have had their struts replaced with Monroe's no longer have the GM FE3 valve setups in the struts. They were ever so slightly different than the FE1's from what I hear.

One other issue...

A 5896 rear shock from Monroe also fits

Well so much for the "secret" source.

Those part numbers are available everywhere.

And in several cases at better prices.

Hmm.....looks as though I may have to admit defeat.... I can read and I guess I'll just have to assume the site was misleading me with it's description. Btw, it wasn't Monroe's site , it was APW.
